    M916A1 Keys To The Highway

When I was at Fort Benning we had two M916's (old style) and two of those lowboys. We used them to haul D7 dozers and 10K rough terrain forklifts. I assume you are aware that they are overwidth. We had the old style steel ramps that we had to schlep by hand for loading/unloading. Sucked to have...

    Mk48/14 road trip video

There's no fuel like an old fuel. A fuel and his money are soon parted. I never bought any MV with fuel milage in mind.

Whats the biggest cover/inclosed pintel trailer?

You could get a bolster trailer, mount a deuce bed in it and then either put bows and a cargo cover on it or put a shelter in it.

    Mk48/14 road trip video

I'm still kicking myself in the arse for not buying one of those when they were cheap and plentiful.

I finally had a chance to cut the locks of my tool boxes, and......

The first deuce I bought had almost two complete sets of BII in it. I could not believe it when we cut the lock off....stuff actually fell out on the ground. I think all of the MK48's we loaded out of Jacksonville had locked boxes full of goodies.

    m936 no throttle response

It may have something to do the the high idle thingy that is used with you are operating the crane or winch. Just a WAG.

    M916A1 Keys To The Highway

I've never driven the Freightliner M916 but the AMG's had the universal key. If you have to you can get a replacement switch from Freightliner or maybe Fleetpride.http://www.fleetpride.com/

Joined the 5 ton club yesterday with a 1985 M923A1

Put your big boy britches on and come on in. I used to swear at trucks with automatics in them. Now I swear by them. The old left knee has seen it's better days and I may never own another deuce again (well, I still have the M275 but it's deadlined). Once you come to grips with the fact that...

    M105a2...it followed me home

They are great for hauling and storing firewood on. Put the cover on and the wood will stay dry and off the ground until you need it. When you need it you can back it up close to the house and use it right off the trailer.

    Forklift assistance

Thanks all. It may be a Case and he just thought it was Clark. We had a similar 4k in the Army but it was made by somebody else. Had an oddball diesel engine in it.

    Alternative Fuel Fest

I’m organizing an Alternative Fuel Fest to be held March 29-30 that will showcase vehicles that are powered by anything other than straight gasoline. It will be held in Gadsden, Alabama, at the Tractor Supply store on Highway 431 south. Wayne Keith has agreed to attend and allow his woodgas...

    Forklift assistance

One of my customers has this 4 thousand pound rough terrain forklift at his place. It is a runner but needs the thin metal thingy between the engine and transmission replaced. It has a four banger Cummins in it and was made by Clark. I could not find a data plate on it but it has USMC...

M416 Trailer price check and specs

Goggle is your friend: http://m416trailer.com These trailers are getting hard to find in the rough. When you find them they have often been butchered.

    M931 as a farm semi?

My son said he pulled 5000 gallon fuel tankers with them but they were slow on the road. If you are on flat land you would prob be able to maintian 50-55 MPH with a heavy load on. I'm not sure how long the tranny would last pulling heavy loads for extended periods. It would make a good pull out...

Tandem 105 axles under a gooseneck?

The bolster trailer rims won't fit on a deuce hub....ask me how I know. You would need the bolster trailer axles and wheels. Mobile home frame is not made to carry a lot of weight. I made a trailer out of one and sold it when I realized how flimsey it would be even with a heavy wood floor.

So....what do you guys exactly do with these trucks???

My first Army enlistment was from 72-76....the last two years were in Germany where I put over 50K miles on deuces driving for the Mess Hall and Supply Room. Sometimes I was on the road six days a week. This was during my "better living through chemicals" phase and owning deuces and other MV's...

Wierd M923 battery box at BFR

The up-armored trucks had the batteries remoted outside but the boxes looked different from that pic. Did the truck still have the bench seat in it? If not maybe they remoted the batteries to install radios or something else that required more space in the cab. For those unaware of it the...
