Official 2012 SS Ga Rally Info thread

The Mess Tent will be available except during meals. If Streamline loans us another tent to go with the one we bought from him last year it would be a pretty big covered area. If someone has some deuce or 5ton cargo covers or some other flat tarps we could sure use them for ground covers...

Official 2012 SS Ga Rally Info thread

I have a mulit-fuel water heater and pump set up from a field shower unit that I will bring if someone wants to do the fab. It's brand new in the box and I have the manual on it. We will need a tent or some other privacy structure . There are some people that should never be seen...

    Who Bought Those Oshkosh MK-48s???

I made several calls to the Marine Command and to Honeywell (the contractor that runs things on base). I didn't have a lot of luck but I am persistant if nothing else. My goal is to meet up with some old grizzled gunny that will help an old Master Sgt. out. I'm also going to look for a...

    Hitch-Bolster trailer

You should be able to pull it with at least a one ton dually. This is what I use:

    Who Bought Those Oshkosh MK-48s???

Welcome to the Green Iron Laughing Accademy.:cookoo: By my count there are eight members with at least ten trucks (assuming a few means two) I would think that if the timeline falls in place GL would love to load all of those out at one time.....it would save them a lot of running back and...

Sold a 1031, titling issues with new buyer, need advise.

I have bought a lot of vehicles from GL.....most of them deuces. Early on I never got the SF-97 since I knew some of them were going to be cut up or that I was only going to sell them with a Bill of Sale to someone in Alabama (can be done with a BOS here). I now get a SF-97 on every vehicle...

Do you need or want "boots on the ground" to assist your drivers in loading? PM if interested.

    M936A1 Wrecker Cruising Speed

The ones with the super singles will cruise at a higher speed but will fall flat on their face when they hit a hill. You are talking about a 36,000 pound vehicle that was underpowered when it was built.

    found a M35A2

No winch and no hardtop with obvious mechanical issues. I'd lowball him at 3500 and see if he bites. Deuces are slowing increasing in value.

    Who Bought Those Oshkosh MK-48s???

Paradeduty.....if you are willing to try to get your guy into our "window of oportunity" I'll be happy to work with you. I would prefer to keep the time on the ground at less than three days to keep down my expenses. Luis at GL has said he will work with us to get them out in a set window...

Anyone pickup a pallet Jacksonville, FL?

I may be down there in a week or two helping load out trucks......you have ten days to get it and you can prob wheedle a few more days.

    Who Bought Those Oshkosh MK-48s???

It is not that hard to get a class B CDL (straight truck). Wearing a military uniform does not mean a DOT guy or local LEO won't pull you over....especially if they are not used to seeing that type vehicle. They may do it out of pure curiosity to find out about the truck. If you are going to...

Nortwest Houston area folks or anyone around Houston

SS folks in all regions should endeavor to hold rallies. They will be a pale comparison to the GA Rally but you should at least try.:razz:

    Mansfield Bars

Running up under the rear of a big truck is part of the natural selection process used to cull the terminally stupid from the human herd. You can't idiot proof everything due to Mother Nature's inherent ability to upgrade the common idiot.

    Who Bought Those Oshkosh MK-48s???

The only issue with driving them this time of year is the heat........having driven them in Korea in the summer time I can tell you that they are very hot. The cabs have lousey cross ventilation and unlike the older trucks you can't open the front windows to get a steady breeze. The dash fans...
