Towing M149A2 Trailer Without Air Hookups

If you are pulling the "Buff" empty with a deuce or 5 ton you don't need the brakes. The only time we used them was if we were hauling water in them. We always hooked up the air lines for show but never turned on the air. One of the reasons we did this was some of them had a bad habit of...

    Engine block cracked

You will have to find an old school welder to do cast iron welding right. I learned it from a retired Navy Chief that spent 30 years as a welder on ships. He forgot more about welding than I will ever learn.

    Murphy strikes again!!!!

What did you do to make "Jessica" mad at you. I'm sure Mr Murphy called ahead and told them to give you the "lube up special". I suspect the red paint on the tires was an indicator that it was time to replace them. At least it happened at low speed close to home.

    Hay Train

That rig is tougher than woodpecker lips.

    Price?

Kenny.....my old eyes did not detect that item......could be an extra air tank too.....if they were pulling a civy trailer they would need more air.

    Engine block cracked

There are special rods for welding cast metal......as stated above you need to drill either end of the crack to stop it. Pre-heat the area to be welded and peen (gently tap) the area as it cools to keep it from cracking again. I would not mig weld it.

    Price?

If you are refering to the green box to the left of the spare tire rack that is the OVM (tool) box.

    Price?

Hummmm.....as the bulldog said when he backed into the barbed wire fence......."rough, rough, rough." She needs some TLC......but might be a diamond in the rough. That does not appear to be a stock military 5th wheel. Hardtop is a plus and can be sold easy if you have to part it out...

    Question for M36 Owners

The M36 I had (and sold to SCSG-G4) seemed to run as fast as my other deuces......he put his car up in the back and drove it home. He said it did fine. Yours may just need a tune up as per the above suggestions.....might consider turning some fuel to it if it is not turning at least 2800 RPM.

    New transporter in gainesville fl

With all the Green Iron Addicts on here you should stay busy. NOTE TO MODS: Since we have several guys that do transportion on the forum is there anyway we can come up with a "load board" where transporters could post a route they would be taking and folks with items to be moved could post...

My Deuce is pulling a BP and Exxon Valdez at the same time in my yard

I got my kit from SS member Westfolk. Got them installed on the M275 while changing the oil. Everything fit perfect and not drips, runs or errors. I have replaced the primary fuel filter with one of his spin on kits and am waiting on the secondary kits. Spin ons rock.

    Air actuated front axle

They (the three) are prob sprague trucks....they are not full time 6 wheel drive...the sprague allows the front axle to kick in when the rear wheels start spinning. It's unlikely that the Army removed the air actuators as that would prevent using the front wheel drive capability of the truck. It...

    Price?

I had a multi-fuel tractor and they are SLOW on the road......I drove from Eglin Fla to north Alabama and it took me about 12 hours (made it in a car in 6) and my average speed was 35mph....I was towing a van trailer and on flat ground I could manage 45mph if I had a 50mph tailwind. All 5...

    m54 engine

Unless I am mistaken (not an uncommon occurance) the sheet metal on the M54 is shorter than the 800 series and you can't put the 250 in there without changing it.

    New guy from Naples FL

There are some great guys in Fla and Kenny is down there too. If you can make the GA Rally you will not regret it......there will prob be one or two convoys headed up on different days....you can't have more fun without taking off your pants.
