Well after two days of wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth I have the M816, the M109 and the M36 at my new LZ.
All of them made it back without incidient and the wrecker is a strong runner (thanks to Papa Bear for the transplanted engine).
I like the M36 so much I may keep it if I can sell...
It seems to turn a lot better and handles good on the open road.
It accelerates much faseter since losing all the heavy suspension parts from the dual axle set up.
My goal is to have the big super singles on it once I get the Master Card paid off.

You can but it is a PITA if the gaskets aren't just the right size.
I bought some big fat O rings to use as gaskets..should make changing the ones on the engine easier.

Just my opinion but it may have been some sort of interior coating gone bad or someone used an aftermarker sealer on it.
I have never seen anything that bad in a fuel tank.

Try getting it hot as you can with you torch and applying some candle wax to it.
Sounds weird but it works..the heat will suck the wax up into the metal and it will come loose.
