Reverse engineering the Chem Shelter Trailer

Update on the reverse engineering I finally got all of the major components out of of the chemical shelter trailer today. I used every tool in my shop, my entire vocabulary of profanity and what little bit of patience I have. To have been made by the lowest bidder that contraption was...

    WC/Power Wagon on rails

Somewhere in my 35mm photo archives is a deuce with rail wheels I happened on in Korea. It was being used as a switcher in an army depot where we went to pick up some (then)new 900 series 5 ton cargo trucks. I'll post when I find them.

Just bought this deuce, now what do i do with it?

I know where there are two of these in a junk yard. They have been there a looong time but can probably be bought for scrap price. They are in NE Alabama. PM me for details if interested. They may get cut up in the near future since scrap is so high right now.

    REMOVING UNDERCOATING

I have the same goo on my 70 Duster. It probably saved it from a lot of rust but they sprayed it on wires, fuel/brake lines, nuts, etc. I can't get the marker light bulbs out to change them. You might try acetone, in a well ventilated area of course, since it will suck the petroleum out of the...

    S.S. Ga Ralley?

Clinto...in my case it depends on the accomodations and the weather. If the weather is cool I can do the camping out thing, if not I perfer a motel. If it is near a campground with good showers and facilities that would be a plus. I have some items that I would like to bring to a swap meet. NW...

Possible barn find....what could it be

David...glad to help and glad that someone saved the truck from the chicken house it was residing in. There is still a yellow gasser 5-ton wrecker and a camo Mack powered diesel wrecker that need good homes not far from where David got the pipeline deuce. Check my previous post for pics. If I...

Reverse engineering the Chem Shelter Trailer

I thought that thing looked familiar. Probably used the old freon and is only usable as a boat anchor now. I may be able to use the clutch for some of my nefarious projects.

Reverse engineering the Chem Shelter Trailer

Emmado...I don't have the specs with me, I'm 150 miles from the shop. I can get them to you Sat. I believe it is a 220 volt, 3 phase. OPCON....the fan motor is an AC 220, 3 phase, I think. I will keep most of the electrical stuff since there isn't much scrap value in it and, as you observed...

    EUC for a M105A2???

I was perusing GL yesterday and saw two identical type of trailers at two different sites. I won't mention which sites to keep from getting torpedoed  One required EUC one didn't. Apparently at GL the lunatics are indeed running the asylum. :cookoo:

Reverse engineering the Chem Shelter Trailer

Well, I took all of last week off and caught up on some projects. One that I had been picking away at was rendering the Chemical Shelter Trailer down to it's basic components. I had removed and sold a lot of the aluminum that was strapped on or easy to remove. This time I had to arm myself with...
