Im not sure exactly when they were ground off, but when I was a USMC driver/mech in the mid 80's, all of the 5 tons 800 and 900 series both, were all cut back then.

I was at Adelmans around Canton, Oh, and he had quite a few 800's with jakes on them. All were recognizable with a muscle car looking "air scoop" on the hood for clearance.

RE: M62A2 I have the LDS465-1A In my M54A2 and the whistle is very distinctive and loud.

I have both. Again , your own choice....They both have their pros and cons. The 813 has alot more power, and it seems to get better fuel mileage than my multifuel powered M54A2. Depending on what you want to do with it, are you going to haul things, or are they just for parades, casual driving...

Not sure about deuces, but the 5 ton canvasses are different. the location of the straps for the "hot weather roll up" are different for the dropside and the fixed sides.

Ken, That kit you are getting from Boyce is only the intake extension for the air cleaner, a small piece of rubber hose for the extension, and 2 hoses for the air compressor and the crankcase breather tube. My M54A2 gets a pitiful 6 or so, and ironically the much larger Cummins gets about the same in my M813, maybe a little better. The 813 runs at much lower RPMs most of the time, which could be the major factor. But, you still cant beat the sound of that whistler, plus the smoke.
