Start, Stall then Hard Start - Fixed

I've been chasing this problem since I bought my M1009. When I park, nose up in my inclined drive way and it sits for more than a few hours, it starts then stalls. After that it has a long crank time, often requiring me to hold the pedal on the floor. It runs rough for a few seconds then is fine...

Help Me With Proper M1009 Bumper Markings

Now it makes sense. I knew I didn't know enough to know how to decode all this. Know what I mean? Thanks Carnac. I didn't want to muddy the VIN info thread with all of this mess. Thank you for your patience with my ignorance, I didn't even know what search terms to use on google.

Only number is on the inside of the drivers door.

Help Me With Proper M1009 Bumper Markings

Any thoughts as to which one? I found 416th Engineer Command. Any other clues you could add would be great.

    CUCV gun trucks?

To resurrect an old thread, I think I have the answer for the OP's question. I think they were used as ersatz RG-31's for training exercises. I thought they were really up armoured M1009's when I first saw the picture but it turns out they were just cosmetic improvements. Still want a real one...

Help Me With Proper M1009 Bumper Markings

While we are talking about markings, anyone else have this on there CUCV? 3 in a circle on pass door. Also had at one time on all three doors a sticker and I can make out that the registration number was on it. You can see the remnants in the attached photo.

Help Me With Proper M1009 Bumper Markings

I guess I'm trying to find out if I can use this info (0972 TH JA TM LEGAL SPT ORG) to make bumper numbers that are original to the truck. If I can't do that then I will make up my own.

    New M1009 Owner

Traded into a tactical vest that won't quite close around my mid section. Ok, it's not even close to fitting, but it will fit around my seat back. Turned it facing backwards. Looks like a good spot to keep my mags, right next to the rifle mounts. Time will tell if it's still comfortable.

Help Me With Proper M1009 Bumper Markings

Found a few numbers under the paint on the left side. Maybe a 416? You guys have any ideas?

Help Me With Proper M1009 Bumper Markings

Ok, I have searched a bunch of threads and I have come to the conclusion that this poor civilian doesn't know enough to figure out what my M1009 markings should be. I got some great info from Carnac's VIN info thread but now how do I use that to make up some bumper markings. Here is the info...

    New M1009 Owner

They will look better once it is lowered back down. And the old tires were so out of round that I could not go over 60 mph without shaking the truck to pieces. Tried balancing and two pounds of weight each, they still vibrate. I will never use those Claws for what they were intended, rock...

    New M1009 Owner

Without question, the single biggest improvement I've done to this truck is changing the wheels and tires. Went from 35x13.50R15 Baja Claws with three stock wheels and one Rally wheel to 32x11.50R15 BFG Allterrains with alluminum wheels. Rides better, accelerates better, smoother at highway...

    Another Tire and Rim Q

If you are willing to trim the fenders you can get by without a lift. Spacers will be required. Almost to a man, everyone I have talked to about H1 rims and tires agree, don't use the wheels and the tires are great. The advise I was given was to find some steel 16.5" wheels and mount the...

    tires and rim question

I just went the other direction and couldn't be happier. Went from 35x13.50R15 Baja Claws on stock wheels to 32x11.50R15 BFG AT KO's on alluminium wheels and it is like a new car. Accelerates faster, speedometer is more accurate, and best of allot rides smoooooth. Best of all when I lower it...

    New M1009 Owner

Tackled the rust holes in the rear as they were the biggest eyesore. Welded in some steel behind the holes and did my best to tack weld them in place. A couple coats of bondo and things are coming along.

    New CUCV Model

Definately a Kubelwagen. Funny thing is I have never seen it again. Tucson is not that big a town.

    New CUCV Model

I snapped a pic of this outside my local gun store a few months back. By the time I was done window shopping the car was gone and I didn't get a chance to find the owner. Just a little more than NDT's on a Thing wouldn't you agree?

    Transmission slipping 1985 M1009 TH400

Sucks that you have to drop the pan again but if thats the only problem then you will be happy once you get the truck back on the road.
