Ideal Mechanic Resume for M1088 Work

Not much work. It's great condition, just work to prep it before I start an expo build. I'm not familiar with the military systems, so I don't know what to look for if it's about to fail. It's a 2001/2010 bae m1088a1. 1,012 miles when I bought it, 1,100 now. Purchased from a member on the...

    M1088 shifts from 2nd and 3rd

Thank you all for the suggestions. I let the tranny warm up quite a while on a long slow drive (longest yet since I've had the truck) and then acceleratedfrom idle several times. Much smoother shifts, I imagine it was cool oil previously. I'll make the switch to atf at some point before the end...

    Starting/Stopping Engine with Cab Tilted?

Does your truck go the full way with tanks full engine off? I can only get 3-4 ft of tilt. Wondering if I have a leak somewhere or an inefficient pump Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

    Starting/Stopping Engine with Cab Tilted?

Do you have a picture to post? Online I see 3 switches above the area you describe, but don't see it on my truck. 2001 m1088 2010 bae rebuild. Either my a1 doesn't have it, or I'm looking in the wrong place :) Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

LMTV M1079 M1078 ARB air locker group buy, we need 50 of you to make this happen.

I reread the OP, I thought price was 2k per locker, not under 2k. Any update on price? I'm doing a high speed gear change on m1088 and non selectable lockers, would love selectable if I can afford both. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

    Solar Battery Tending

I'm no expert, but most home solar panels will output their nominal voltage above 24v (which is what you want). I think if you are buying panels from a company that 'specializes' in something that is normal by many, you'll be overpaying. I also believe you can wire them 2(or more) in a series...

    M1088 shifts from 2nd and 3rd

Should still be motor oil. I haven't read the threads on switching to ATF. Is the only reason the military didn't do it was for simplicity of supply chain with motor oil? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

    M1088 shifts from 2nd and 3rd

Hey all, I hope you are doing well. A recent post on a m1078 tranny got me thinking. Was just curious how hard of a shift from 2nd to 3rd and out to 4th is. Mine takes quite a bit of throttle to get up and going and is quite a big shift. That being said I wouldn't expect it to be overly smooth...

What year FMTV to purchase? A0/A1/A1R?

Appreciate the suggestion. I've actually been speaking with Andreas for a month or so now. I'm just trying to determine how long to make my box. Can't decide between 20-25'. I know that's a big box, but at the same time many European expedition campers are 30-35ft in length or more. We want to...

    Ctis ecu grounding screw

Yeah just a picture of the white wire to the screw. I usually take pictures of everything before taking it apart, so I don't screw up with the reassembly. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

What year FMTV to purchase? A0/A1/A1R?

That's a curiousity I havent pondered yet :) frame extension and the beefiness of the extension will be dependent on my camper box design, which isn't finished yet. As long as the design doesn't change much, I won't have a ton of weight past the current frame, which should make extending easier...

    Ctis ecu grounding screw

Oops. It was the end of the day and I was trying to complete my tear down for painting. I removed the ctis ecu from its mount, without noting the order for the washer, ground screw, ground wire, and ecu. Before putting it back together and running power again, can anyone around their truck...

    Brake lights always on

Is there a position where the brake lights activate only when pressed? Turn signals and all other indicators work great, but in all settings I've tried so far, brake lights are always illuminated. Very possible it's user error as I'm the only one at the shop testing. Sent from my SM-G955U...

Ideal Mechanic Resume for M1088 Work

What are some prevailing hourly wage rates for mechanics? I'm balancing between paying per job and per hour. I don't want rushed work, so expect I'll use a per hour basis with a time allotment and approval for additional work based on a case by case basis. I'd be interested to know cost per...

Ideal Mechanic Resume for M1088 Work

This forum has been a tremendous help and great source of knowledge. Unfortunately, I work 70-80 hours a week and have to come home to be with the wife. In the time period I'd like the truck to be finished to enjoy out in the wild, I am going to need to gather as much knowledge as I can, and...

    Better fasteners for interior

I haven't decided on the material yet. I'm not convinced any type of metal is necessary for the application. It's all interior, so there are lexans and other plastics or fiberglass that would be suitable, and offer more thermal and sound dampening qualities. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
