bought this truck from some guy near austin, tx. already had a few mangled torque bars in the rear so it was kinda obvious what needed to be done. and i wanted a bobbed deuce anyway.
makes it easy when u have a 75x50 tilt wall shop with a 5-ton overhead crane! just wish it was my shop. i happen to have one of those cool jobs where i get to use the shop for my own stuff whenever i want. the 5-ton sky hook picks up the front or my big deuce without straining... made it that...
rear steer is off a toggle switch to a 12-volt hyd. pump mounted on top of LR fenderwell. its completely seperate of the front steering so i can make it do all kinds of cool stuff... like smack into a tree and crush the right rear door! oops!
now that i've been edumucated on how to post multiple pics i thought i'd show y'all some of my engine swap. the original engine had a dead miss, and rather than fix it i took my chances with an engine i won on a GL auction. i was the lucky one that bought this engine for $310 plus the normal...
RE: Re: RE: my junk
sorry, i think website is down. my brother handles all that stuff cuz i know nothing about it. but i'll try to post another pic now.
gotta keep her. dunno where i'd find anyone else to put up with my habits. we drove the deuce to the beach in july heat here in texas... about 2 hours of pure torture... with no complaints... laid the jeep on its side in a ravine in the middle of a mosquito farm... no complaints... broke...
LMAO. I have a live in GF and she has a daughter. ONE OF OUR FIRST DATES WAS IN THE DEUCE!!! It was a done deal when i let her drive it to her friend's house. Now how PWT is that?
i'm not sure of the interest in this, but i saved the title and VIN plate from a deuce that i parted out. it is a texas title, and i never bothered putting it in my name. it was on a 1957 truck mfr by Studebaker. have matching title and vin plates. PM me with offer if interested.
both my trucks have the sprag style case, i am consideribg removing the linkage from the trans that engages the front drive only in 1st and reverse, and building a seperate lever to engage front drive at my will. looks like that's what the kit pictured does. am i correct?
saw diesel here in TX for $2.59 the other day. regular gas about $2.80 i think... don't buy much of it. was forced to pay $3.37 for gas once while trailering my duece home. that hurt!
in theory--any assembly that holds fluid should leak. this is how you know it still has fluid in it! by the way, that's not MY theory. and if your engine oil dipstick doesn't show oil, order a longer one!!!
