update on some MV issues im working on

If driving around Gary, IN - Chicago , given how bad the highways are there, a MV seem to be only the safe choice...

update on some MV issues im working on

It seems to me highways were built by Eisenhower specifically for military vehicle transit. What the heck are these civilian bureaucrats smoking. It is the regular joe Toyota which is to accomodate, to highways, and not MVs. I bet that with open borders and "China is everything" they would sing...

update on some MV issues im working on

Looks like a need for a solid organization funding for this kind of legislative fight. Many groups have good lobbies. Police, firefighters etc... have many lobbies pushing laws in their favor. I suppose vehicles are not an inalienable right, so it is an uphill battle. What is the word from...

update on some MV issues im working on

If Haggerty insures my truck for $50 a month because that slow thing is considered safe , then these bureaucrats have nothing to stand on as far their excuses go. Not sure how much it costs to insure a Tesla, but these batteries and the speed of that thing tell me they could be a major Hazmat...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I went to go hunting with my 5 ton. Usually park rangers think my truck is cool and ask how it handles what not, but not this one today. He stops me and asks me what have I been doing. I say I am heading back home from the weekend hunt. He made me step outside, looked at my licenses, ran my...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

So I installed my new air brake pistons this weekend. I find it hard to tighten the fittings without twisting the hoses. Some I manage to hold firmly the hose and it finally stops twisting it, others I cannot. I hear it is bad for hose life.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

How do you replace an engine in that thing? You have a crane?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I had to stand on a 40 in breaker bar extended with a pipe to 60 in , jumping on it, to loosen the nuts on my wheels last weekend. I was changing axle seals. Previously a truck tire place had rotated my tires and, man, their impact wrenches are way too powerful. It is a heck of a workout indeed...

    Threw a Torque Rod today

It is toward the end of the 20.1 TM. Torques are like in the 3-400s ft-lbs

    5 ton battery switch inoperable

Interesting. Low speed on the fan did not seem to help at all at the time it was acting up, but high speed did temporarily remediate the problem before I installed the charge balancers.

UPS broke water pump pulley (anyone interested?)

So I had a water pump and pulley delivered and the box was damaged. The copper gasket was mangled and a chunk was broken off the water pump pulley. I filed a claim but last time I filled a claim with UPS, I never heard anything of it. Meanwhile I am thinking of removing the pulley and switching...

    5 ton battery switch inoperable

So I decided to install a solar panel on the roof to help batteries but it was a 12 volt charge. To prevent unbalancing of the batteries I ordered a couple cheap chinese solar battery balancers for 24v systems. Ever since I did that I have zero acting up from the alternator nor the PCB circuit...

    M-923 start's uphill longer

Turns out there supposed to be a gasket between the Damper assembky and the the PT pump that was not there. I had ordered one but got ahead by making a gasket myself with black oil resistant RTb. The truck starts like a champ at the first turnover of the starter.

Heater in a can - Now you can have your turbo and heat it too!

Would it be feasible to have a pump do a recirculation? Wondering if I could get a pump from an autowrecker.

Heater in a can - Now you can have your turbo and heat it too!

Do you need tp replace the ptg pump with a Ptg-afc punp when using a turbo? Can a ptg-afc be used with a normally aspirated? I think I blew the pulsation diaphragm dampener on my pump and was thinking of getting a ptg-afc and put in a classic cummins turbo.

    M-923 start's uphill longer

Ok, so I do have a leak by the Pt pump “back plate” next to the intake. It seems to be a seal or a pressure damper needing replacement perhaps. In the first few seconds of this video they show the pressure damper and I believe it is the plate holding the pressure side of my pump which is...

    5 ton battery switch inoperable

As far as installing a new PCB, if you have one already, awesome. If you don't and want to save some moolah, follow my post in aboit 10 days. I'll do parts and tools used, where to get parts etc. Otherwise it's just unscrew the connector at the bottom, unbolt it from the firewall and put the new...

    5 ton battery switch inoperable

The switch activates a relay in the PCB, I can hear it in the PCB when my PCB allows it (Ie when it is not humid). I assume if the relay stays stuck when the switch is back to off, all the dryer heater and ABS system will keep draining the battery. It seems all the switch does is activate a...

Looks like my Air Dryer is blown.

Ok, I ordered it and installed it. I have much higher pressure on the top gauge running about 130 PSI which I assume is the dry tanks while the bottom one fluctuates between 90 and 125 psi as the dryer purges. It has this 30 second fiz that makes it drop once it purges. There also is condensed...

    Accidental boost with NHC250?

I would think gas is rough on seals and injectors, even a bit of it, and gas is too volatile for hot applications. I heard Xylene can be used as cetane improver, but the regular cetane improver bought from the store (I forgot the compound name but abbreviated 2EHN) is better on the injectors...
