Thanks for the compliment on the tires! I searched the part#s for the filters but I kept coming up with different numbers thats why I thought I'd ask. I am heading to Cummins today with the numbers I have and see what they come up with. Thanks for the link!
Yes the truck was empty, I think the altutude there is around 8k so Im sure that has allot to do with it, plus the hills I am talking about are about 3.5 miles down then 1 mile flat then 3.5 miles up. It even drops my powerstroke when pulling but I just thought going into 3rd empty was excessive.
I brought my 5 ton down from the mountains today, through Wy on my way to Utah. On the highway, going up hills my truck will not maintain good speed. I had to drop to 3rd at one point and was doing about 25. Is this normal? With all the low gears/power I thought Id be able to maintain 50 going...
Does anyone have the part numbers for the oil/fule filters for a Cummins NHC250 on a 5 ton? I have found the following info:
Oil, from Cummins: LF670 Filter and 33092 Adapter are these numbers correct?
I cant find the fuel though, any info is appreciated!
It was tutrning OK until my batteries went dead, I replaced the batteries and then it would hardly crank. I think I smoked it by trying to keep cranking for a few more seconds because it would almost start. I put in the new batteries, tried turning it over and as soon as I did my battery voltage...
Wheres the best place to pick up a starter for an M809 5 Ton with a NHC250 Cummins? I thought my betteries were bad but it looks like its the starter, it barely turns over. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks Maccus, Im hoping the new batteries do the trick. I had 1 dead cell in 1 battery so when the temp dropped things slowed down when I went to start it. I ended up buying a block heater from cummins but I didnt want to install that until I got it off the mountains and got it home.
Thanks! I have that type of starting fluid I am just worried about damaging my engine. My truck is in the mountains and this weeken will be my last shot at getting it out. I have had unsuccessful attempts at starting it due to the decrease in temperatures the last couple of weekends. It would...
I was told by a friend of mine that WD-40 will get a diesel started and works as well as ether without the potential problems, has anyone else ever heard of this? I'm leary of trying it but I really hate using ether.
Whats the recommended engine oil for the Cummins NHC 250 in winter months? I live in the lower elevations of Utah so getting down to zero would be a rarity. In my powerstroke per the dealer I use 15W40 in summer and 10W30 in the winter. Any advice is appreciated.
It starts fine in warm weather....never had a problem. I was worried about the ether because of all the cautions about the glow plugs. Once I get it going I will take it out of the mountains where I can go through the fuel lines and install a block heater. I just need to get it started without...
Thanks!
I take it the glow plugs shold be OFF before you give it the whiff of ether. Also. when I pump up the pressure it only seems to gtet to 60 before it starts to go down, I can never get it to stay at 80 where the instructions recommend.
I have a 5 Ton with a Cummins NHC 250 engine in it and it has a few issues starting when it gets cold. I keep it up in the high mountains of WY so it can get pretty cold up there. I did purchase a block heater that I will install this fall when I bring it back down for the winter. The question I...
