detroit locker in the rear axle(s)

Here are some locker install and axle tips. http://www.jpmagazine.com/projectbuild/154_0402_hot_dog_suspension_part_2/index.html

    USA6x6 Products and company

Sometime ago I ordered pinion brakes for my Rockwell axles from USA 6x6. The box was beat up when I got it but that is understandable considering the parts are heavy and the box is cardboard. Even the 20-30 lb bikes that I ship get hammered in shipping. I don't care how well you pack it...

    Pyrometers, options, mounts...

I ended up with an AutoMeter gauge and I used a $12 AutoMeter pod to mount it to the steering column with a hose clamp like this:

Remote Spin-Off Oil Filter for the Deuce

I think you'll be fine with only one kit. Just install the largest filter possible. For the bypass side that's 10 inches long and 4 1/4 in diameter. For the full flow side it's almost 7 inches tall and 3 1/2 in diameter. The system will certainly filter better than the stock 40-plus year old design.

FS-2500 Bypass Oil Filter - Great Idea or Snake Oil

Oh, my bad. I thought the BMK-12 was a heavy truck version of the BMK-13. The 13 is for smaller vehicles but you're right. I like the idea ya got. There must be a truck version. Although it looks like the BMK-13 accepts the bigger filters. Hmmm. Post it up if ya go that route. I'm thinkin' bout...

FS-2500 Bypass Oil Filter - Great Idea or Snake Oil

Yep it is a good idea. It seems not many people here grasp the concept. It is very common for 18-wheelers to run a bypass filter system. It just doesn't make sense to be changing out oil every 3-5k in a truck like that. It would be very expensive considering they would have to do it twice a week...

    Brand New M35A3 super-single wheels!

I donno. He did seem like a pretty crotchety guy when I talked to him. He also sounded like he would rather sell 6,000 instead of six wheels, but he was still willing to sell them. Kinda odd that he changed his tune. Probably got sick of phone calls, sounds like he works out of his house or...

    Brand New M35A3 super-single wheels!

I was told $600-$800 each. Depending on quantity. 50-100 wheels is not alot to them apparently. But, when you look ath what you are getting it's a good deal. You get not only super single wheels, you get double beadlocks and a runflat with the possiblity of running CTIS (if you can actually get...

    Brand New M35A3 super-single wheels!

They anin't cheap and the cost depends on how many you want. They are the 20x11 take apart 2.5 ton ESP Program wheels. They are a little too rich for my blood. Contact: Alex Rosen A&H Automotive 614-235-1759 or 800-525-9602 arosen@ahautomotive.com http://www.ahautomotive.com/index.html

    Panhard bar

Yeah, I could see the rear axles moving a little because the leafs actually hold the axles in place side to side. Notice that the packs feed into a steel box. (see pic). There are no rods that control side to side movement. The six arms you might be talking about locate the pinion angle and the...

    Panhard bar

Nah, not needed. The suspension has no flexible bushings (they are metal) if there is slop to move side to side they are worn and should be replaced. Also, a panhard up front makes no sense. The main reason for one would be to help eliminate bumpsteer. This only works for vehicles with a...

Under-register 5-ton to avoid CDL in CT ?

In California you can register it as a Historical Vehicle. This way you can avoid the weight fee and possibly the CDL. The bummer is I can't get caught hauling anything and the only time I can drive it on the road is to and from a parade, photo shoot...I go to a lot of parades.

    Rockwell Camber Issues

Check the toe-in. Too much will make it look like the the axle has too much camber. Shoot for 1/4-3/8 inch toe-in at the tires. Check it at the axle centerline on the front and backsides to get this measurment.

    Radiator and alternator

OK, just got back from NAPA. They want $400 to rebuild my alternator. He said something about the rotor in the back of the alternator being no good. It's funny. He started out saying he's never seen a rebuild cost more than $100-$200 a few weeks ago. Then his song conveniently went to $300 when...

Ok, I'll say it, the deuce is not that "awesome" o

Yep, both Detroit and Ouverson make full-time lockers. But an ARB would be a selectable locker. Open when off, spool when on. Good for front ends. Just courious if anyone had looked at it. Apparently I'm the only one.

Ok, I'll say it, the deuce is not that "awesome" o

I think they do pretty good considering how big, heavy, and unmaneuverable they are. I drove one on Hell's Revenge and part of Golden Spike in Moab, UT. Yeah, the tires suck, especially on ice. But if you air them down below the recommended off-road pressure they start working. We had the front...

Identify my winch! Is it big enough?

I didn't. Too rich for my blood. I bailed out at $616 (about $300 more than I wanted to spend. Some went cheaper than that. It was just hard to watch all 32 of 'em. Eh, no biggie. I'll make this one work. I just won a brand new double output PTO on ebay. Alternator is at the shop, should be...
