Your "start-doesn't start" symptoms sound like a loose wire/connection to me. Start at the main battery terminal connections where the battery cables attach to the main harness and work forward.

After removing the pump,I found the problem. Seems water had accumulated in the engine valley at some point and had rusted the shaft that advances the timing. Cleaned out the drain hole and had the injection pump rebuilt. Runs perfect now.

Are there any of the drive line components interchangeable?
