2008 LTMV goes into over charge dash shuts off

Ohm test won't tell you anything. Never use that unless you are actually testing a resistive device or circuit such as an incandescent light bulb, a relay coil, or an actual resistor. Ohm setting on your meter is COMPLETELY USELESS for the vast majority of troubleshooting you will do for wiring...

    Retarder Switch on LMTV1078 - 2000 Model

Yep. Mine stays in the 6 position at all times unless I'm using warmup mode. You DO have an exhaust brake - specifically a butterfly style PAC Brake. All 3126/C7 trucks have them unless it's been removed. Dramatically improves braking and brake lining lifespan. And if you didn't have one you...

    Allison code 6600

Yep. Number one issue with FMTV's is always the batteries, and the battery and ground connections. Address that and 90% of the "problems" these trucks have vanish.

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Huh. Have not had that problem on the 24 wheels I have done.

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Yep. Just drive. There really isn't any learning anyway. Transmission doesn't care what your road speed is. It's shifting based on engine load, RPM, and it's own output speed. You just go faster at any given output speed. As far as the transmission is concerned nothing has changed other than...

    Transmission Filter Inspection Finding

My M1079 box subframe has a tubular cross-member that is right behind that cover. I could easily pull the box off but the subframe is huck-bolted in place and so is the cross-member. I could cut the cross member huck bolts and just use normal bolts to reinstall it. Probably wouldn't be too bad...

    Transmission Filter Inspection Finding

As a point of reference my 2008 A1R transmission serial number is 6510807894. The final part number change occurred at 6511014364 so it's safe to assume that basically none of the civilian trucks have the latest composite thrust washer and being the first change was in 2007 and they don't even...

    Transmission Filter Inspection Finding

Interesting! Glad I have the high pinion 4x4. I had not noted the correlation of the 4x4 low pinion rear with failure reports. I'll have to watch for that on any future reports I see. And yeah the driveshaft angle thing is an unfortunate design flaw. Still - the ECO hub should improve the...

    Transmission Filter Inspection Finding

Yeah - what he said 👆 The most common issue with these is the C6 thrust bearing in the transfer case. When they fail they shotgun needle bearings through the trans and they end up in that scavenge line among other places. The updated part from Allison is a solid plastic bushing in place of the...

    Safety/reliability of 370hp tune (A1R)

It's torque that is the limiting factor for transmissions - HP is a measure of work performed over time - torque breaks things directly while HP wears things out. And the 3700SP is rated for 860 Ft/lbs but according to people that have spoken with Allison this is a VERY safe "guideline" and they...

    Safety/reliability of 370hp tune (A1R)

The M-ATV turbo is water cooled. To prevent oil coking. Mind you this was on a 25k lb MRAP running in the middle east and was not running quality synthetic oil. That is the only difference between the 330 and the 370 tune. There is apparently no concern with EGT's other than as related to oil...

    Electric AC?

Not sure about what MME has - wouldn't give them money if I was dying of thirst next to their lemonade stand. Is it not the same as the factory style that is braced off the engine mount? Tom sells compressor kits with brackets: https://www.lmtvtrucks.com/AC/index.html *edit* - looked at their...

    Electric AC?

It's not snow that is so much the problem - if it's significantly below freezing then the dew point is so low that the air can't hold (much) moisture anyway. Wet clothes and gear and dogs will fog the windows - this is worst in the 40-50 degree ambient range with very moist air (raining for days...

Newbie Alert! New LMTV in DFW

Ron is correct - have you pumped it A LOT? Like for 10+ minutes as fast as you can manage? It can take a WHILE if you don't have have the AOP working and air has got in the system from it being run dry.

Newbie Alert! New LMTV in DFW

Not sure exactly what they mean by that. The overhaul/seal kit is about $200 from Parker. Did it work before or after they did this "reseal"?

Newbie Alert! New LMTV in DFW

The air operated pump probably needs to be rebuilt - there's a yellowish colored seal inside them that disintegrates into a whole bunch of little yellow bits and then clogs up everything. They aren't terribly hard to rebuild but it does require some patience and careful attention to detail.

Eco Hubs 3.90 or 3.07 for Best Fuel mileage

Yeah if there is algorithmic level programming available it should be trivial to update and hold the last pressure reading anytime the reading jumps above 5 psi. Just watch it on the back end and when it sees the reading go high capture that number and display it till the next reading takes...

CTIS pressure settings increase - no programming, transducer, or module required.

Since the A0 doesn't have a J1939 bus at all I would *assume* it would work without issue. The only issue with them on the A1 trucks is they burn out the J1939 termination resistors if you don't pull the pins out of them. Not having those pins doesn't affect their operation though - seems that...
