The truck is loaded and I am headed up in the morning.
Looking forward to seeing those who can make it, and will miss those who can't.
We'll take photos. :)
Running full tilt in any of my MVs, I can't outdrive my e-code Hella H4 lights with just the "standard" wattage 24volt burners 75/70...
I can easily stop in the area that is illuminated.
This includes the Cummins powered M37 (with the current gearing, it runs 80mph) although it does sport...
I've been asked...
For folks who have not sent in payment yet... I do have a PayPal account, but you can also see Chuck (aka BMan) at the Registration Tent in the middle of the camping field when you arrive and pay by cash or check.
He's going to want to see you anyway so that he can get you...
With one exception, Devil's Backbone, all the trails can be traversed with a 5/4 ton or smaller pickup/Jeep/Unimog... Although a couple of trails are steep in some places, they are all moderate or beginner skill level (and we have a great group of trail guides to help folks). We also have a...
It's a very family friendly event...
We have a very high percentage of attendees who bring their wives or girlfriends...lots of kids.
There are a lot of things for folks to do on the property, and nearby: hiking, horseback riding (extra charge for horseback riding), basketball, tennis, Jr...
I was up at the Lodge this past weekend with some of the good folks from Rock Ridge Offroad (the local Jeep club that does all the trail clearing and maintenance for us...) as they did a bunch of mowing and other prep work for the event. The field will have to be mowed again, but it should be...
The connector (Dorman or other manufacturer) is a standard stock item, so you can actually pick them up at your local parts store in the lighting section if you don't order them with the rest of the parts...
Somewhere on this site is a thread from back when I did this swap with Hella H4's to everything in my yard...
(M38, M37, XM813, M816, M817, VW... you get the idea...if it has round headlights and I own it, it runs a set of e-code Hellas...).
I've been running them since 1997 or so...

The current plan is to use a range that is on the farm property, but down the road a bit from the actual rally site.
I've got to get some info to SCSG-G4 this weekend so that he can assure himself that it is up to his standards... (he's agreed to be my range officer-THANKS MIKE!)
Assuming that...
Dan Pinkham is the guy who did it. Lives over near Monroe...
He did a writeup in MV Magazine back when David Ahl owned it...
I don't think that he is on this site, but I suspect that I could find his contact info...
Just a quick reminder that we don't have cell phone coverage around the Lodge or the camping area... So bring your CB, military radio, or FRS radio... Most common trail communications device is a CB, but we use them all... Frequencies/Channels used will be posted at the registration tent.
Mike, when you arrive, make sure that we take you over to the "Goodall Place" so that you can check out the firing range...
Before we use it, we need to make sure it is up to your standards. ;)
I grew up in Lynchburg (Central VA), but have family located between Charlottesville and Washington, DC.
They own a large farm/resort in Madison County that backs up to the Shenandoah National Park
We have a rally and trailrides on the farm each year over the Labor Day weekend.
The thread for...
I received a box of goodies yesterday from Rick Sultan at http://www.dodgepowerwagongear.com/ for use as prizes. He's donated some really nice stuff this year. :)
Forgot to mention...
We will have a non-pork option on the menu for Saturday night.
Most likely chicken since that seemed to work well last year along with the Eastern NC Style BBQ and the vegies...
A buddy of mine hooked the surge brakes up on his M101 years ago...
It was pretty easy, if I remember correctly, since the drums/shoes/backing plates are the same as on a M37 (he removed the mechanical parking brake linkage and installed the wheel cylinders off a M37). Not sure of the exact...
The good news is that the hog cooker is in great shape (the equipment...).
I'm still trying to figure out what I am going to be driving on the trails...so that I can get whatever it is trail ready...
Good news, as always, is that we will have access to the heavy truck shop at the farm in case...
I've hade a few M116 trailers with a pair of MEP-002s on them, but have long since sold them (but could visit them for measurements if needed). Had a M101A1 with a MEP-003 in it (with the M37 gas tank slung underneath) that no longer has the genset or tank, etc. Sold the genset, put the tank...
A few shots from the July 4th trail maintenance weekend... A couple showing trail conditions after they had been cleared, the new picnic table at the Devil's Backbone Trail Overlook, the view from the picnic table (too much haze to see much), the view from a spot lower down on the mountain...
