I resently heard a saying that would seem to apply here ((( Never Drive Faster Than Your Gardian Angel Can Fly ))) . Your chances are far to slim of recovering control if you have a blowout at that speed aren't in the top ten for sure ..........

I would agree with the cable issues it's not like likely the shoes would still be frozen after you drove it around the block, Ive seen the shoes start to burn after a hundred feet of travel , so I know it had enough heat to melt of any ice around it .........
If I'm seeing it right the timber is used as a lever to aid in winching opperations . It is noched so that the winch cable will lay in the V and can aid in lifting objects up and over as a fulcrum instead of trying to plow through them. On the engine panel I've seen a lot of these and it seems...
If it's in your price range then sure , go for it . If its a clean upgrade then it should pay for it's self when you sell it , so in that light it's money in the bank.....
Glad to see your still chipping away on it , nice progress. Hope your job picks up the hours after the new year comes in ..............But at least you have something to keep your mind off it ...:wink:
This is related but a some what different question to ask but here it goes . Is it legal to even have a caution light ( witch to me is the same as a convoy light ) running on these trucks ??? The reason I ask is I used to run a wrecker at night with my brother and we had the caution lights on...
I fear this is a sign of the times we live in . It used to be thank you and come again , and the customer is always right . Now it's Like it are you can get the h@%# out . If they have the only show in town, then they play what they like on it ..
