I have a CTIS control box that behaves as you described in first post. There might be a common mismatch between some box versions and truck wiring.
After plugging it in with power off, then turn power on, I get a flash of lights, then all lights go out. Lights do not come back on under any...
Good ideas. I have done a test that, I think, rules out clogged piping. I installed a pressure gauge in the fill port of the front diff then drove around for several days. I would cycle the tires from HWY to XC to SAND and back and the CTIS worked as it should. No pressure ever showed up in...
The front lifting system on the FMTV, that huge frame behind the cab, would make a good base for a roll-over protection system, ROPS. As an example, when Case Equipment started buying model 406 Unimogs from Mercedes Benz they upgraded the 406 with a special Case designed deck, and that included...
Nice diagram! Oddly, my 24P manual, figure 142, is different. It relates to CTIS but does not show the breather lines like this diagram does.
The way I interpret the diagram, and the physical layout (which match, so far I think) is: If you look at the point #30, near top right of diagram...
Hi Will, I did put air into it and no-go, not much anyway. I used a regulator and put about 20 psi of shop air on it, not wanting to do damage downline. So now I have to find out where that hose goes. On the front axle there are two vent/breather holes on the right side of the axle housing...
Has anyone found where the various vents and breathers terminate? Do they go to a common point? There are definitely breathers on both axles and on the bell housing. I found the bell housing vent terminates at a little breather valve on the end of a hose.
Tracing the breather hoses from...
Without those plugs the rodents can get in, too. Found that out the obvious way and had to do a little trapping. A wad of aluminum foil works temporarily and the little vermin do not like to gnaw through it.
If anyone finds a source, I need some of those plugs too. Note that the plugs...
The non-return to idle on my truck was a dragging cable between pedal and linkage up under the dash. If you remove the dash and follow the cable from the pedal up to it's top end, well, you can't reach it or see it. But, you can dribble oil down the center wire of the control cable, right to...
Karl is steering you in the right direction. The U1300L is a capable offroad truck without the working gears. I have done a bit of rocky trail riding, mud, and steep stuff and never really needed the slower gears. That includes many of the challenging trails around Moab, UT.
Also as Karl...
You will like the PRC-320. It is one of the best thought out transceivers readily available on the market today. You know this (but for readers), the internal antenna tuner can be easily bypassed by removing the BNC jumper on the back and coming right out of the transmitter, and the internal...
My tires might not have runflats! I consider that good news. The spare tires I bought, and the spare that came with it (but not on an LMTV wheel) had runflats so I made an assumption (yeah, I know).
Thanks for the insight. Still learning here.
My tires still have the runflats/beadlock donuts in them and I want to keep them for use with low tire pressure. Having the runflat might be useful in case of a tire failure.
But, it occurs to me that repairing a tire properly (with internal patch) will be almost impossible with the big...
No clearance problem at all. The box has wheel wells built in. The axle was moved back to position the tires correctly.
Edit, I looked back at original pictures on this thread and I see why you saw clearance problem with the side of box. Sure looks like it! Actually it's a perspective...
Adam pestered me enough to go out in the rain and take a few updated photos. :-)
The radio table installation is complete but radios are still being added:
1) SEM-25, originally used in these comm boxes, 15 Watts or 1 Watt, with mounting plate/power supply and cabling, including AGAT...
Not bad at all. 100 lbs on the end of a 4 ft cheater bar. It's always good preparation to have a truck shop spin them loose with their 1" impact wrench and retorque. Some like a touch of anti-seize paste (I do).
The adventure may be underway!!?? Hope you can update regularly. I look...
Have a great time, Pointman. If you would want to post your intended route we lurkers can let you know where we are.
Is your truck coming from an individual who has checked out the truck? That is a lot better situation than picking up one at GovPl and heading cross country.
Bob
Looks like a handy setup. I've not used a gladhand for air source on LMTV. Do you connect to the trailer emergency gladhand (not service gladhand) and simply enable trailer brakes with red knob?
