Hi Dale,
No doubt the reduction gears run in their own reservoirs. The front axle reductions are certainly separated from the diffs.
If you get to checking them, it takes a 5/16" Allen hex drive, and a good bit of torque to pop the plugs. There are magnets built into the plugs so you can...
That cell went 'high resistance', meaning it no longer can provide higher current and will not take a charge. The sound you hear is the electrolyte cooking. The voltage across the bad cell will be very high compared to the other cells (in both charge and discharge cycles). A voltmeter draws...
Thanks. I will check that air solenoid in the morning. When the fan works I do hear that air get dumped, and when the fan does not come on there is no air dump. I had assumed the problem was electrical.
That solenoid is electric, right? Can I put a meter on it to watch for electrical...
Comment on apparent rotation of the distributor: In some installations (specifically a 404 Unimog) the Pertronix magnet ring held the distributor rotor too high, causing interference with the distributor cap contacts. If that happened to you then the turning of the rotor by the dissy shaft may...
This is a follow up on my speedo issue, and engine temp issue.
I mentioned before that the speedo was 'off' by the ratio 5/8, same ratio as km to miles. Problem was, the dial on the speedometer (black in mph) was showing 25 mph when gps speed are really 40 mph. Like the computation for kph...
That is classic symptom of air ingress into a fuel line connection. It's a slow air leak 'in' and can't be seen. The air is pulled in by the fuel settling back into the tank while the truck sits. Most likely the leak is before the lift pump but could also be after the lift pump. Try pumping...
Engele, you have some fine looking hardware over there! I find a good accessory for a 'short' shelter is a rolling chair. Get in, sit down, and scoot around where you need to go in the shelter. Works well if desks and radios are involved.

Here is the S-318 Shelter. The trailer is an M-105 chassis with Unimog 404 radio box (1985 Zeppelin) adapted to it.
The spare carrier does come close to the extension box on the shelter, but does pass ok. This combination just had its first road test a few minutes ago. It works!

Have available a blow up 16 ft tent as used with the Chemical-Biological trailer M-51. It has not been unpacked since it was stored in 1996 (tag). Want $300 for it but will only bring it to Durhamtown if someone makes a deal in advance. PM me if you have questions.
Someone had one set up at...

Hi, I agree completely about safety issue of a loaded SEE at full speed. Perhaps the important issue here is 'where' the SEE is driven hard and fast. In the field with the military is a whole different situation than on highway with soccer moms darting in and out LOL.
Regarding the max...
Alex, I just today set an S-318 on my LMTV. Total height is almost exactly 11 ft, 3.4 meters, just short of your max height.
I will take some pictures tomorrow if you are curious what it looks like.
Bob
hi SkippyTDI. Not sure what I might have said for you to get combative. Always just trying to help. Max engine rpm on the OM-352 is typically wide open on the governor and that rpm varies somewhat vehicle by vehicle. Typical is 2800 rpm, or whatever seems a safe speed. Earlier OM-352s...
My experience is NOT on the type truck you have, but maybe this will help. The Pertronix instructions should have directed you to attach the red wire to constant DC (12 or 24 whichever your truck is). If you try to get DC voltage on the coil side of the ballast resistor then the voltage to the...
Yes it will 'work' with CB, just not well. Design SWR of the '3900 in the range 30 to 80 MHz is 3.5 to 1 maximum. That's not good but probably will not damage the CB. However you are also out of band (CB about 27 MHz) so SWR will be worse. Designed gain of the '3900 is less than unity, that...
Check your users manual but the hydraulic system used by the backhoe runs off a hydraulic pump that is driven from the PTO on the transmission. If your hoe works, the PTO is engaged. That PTO and pump are not intended to operate at engine rpm in the on-the-road range so always disengage the...
A compromise might be your solution. I use a winch a lot on a heavy truck (14k lb Unimog) and keep a shorter length of steel cable on the drum, 120 ft instead of 250'. The reason is that most of the time there's an anchor point within that length, or the object I am pulling is within that...
