    US Snowplow for Unimog S404.114?

I have removed the snow plow from my 404 Unimog, making photos much easier.

    Need some quick bodywork advice.

I had a Unimog rusted like that along the rain gutter. I sand blasted it, painted with POR-15 to stop the rust, then plugged the holes with JB Weld. The JB Weld can be formed with a finger to blend in and have an unnoticeable contour. Then I sprayed a rust inhibitor in the inside crevasse to...

Why do MEPs require ground rod and RV/portables do not?

I recall an earlier thread about wiring generators into houses and the problem was that the generators had no neutral coming out of the generator with the 220 v. 220 v 'works' to drive it's load just fine with no neutral. BUT if there's no neutral carried between the components of the system...

Guilty!! I will have to spend about 6 months out there to catch up with friends! Bob

Unimog recovery from Denver, 1400 miles

Just arrived home with the latest project, a 1967 Unimog 404 with flatbed 'upgrade'. The 'mog was hauled from CO to TN with no trouble. Lots of work to do on this truck though. It has some parts removed, hardly any viable wiring, but seems a solid truck. Restoration is the fun part! Best I...

    US Snowplow for Unimog S404.114?

This is an old thread but the 404 Unimogs are undoubtedly still going strong. And it still snows. I have just acquired a snow plow setup for use on a 404 Unimog. I would be glad to take some pictures of the mounting system built to support this commercial plow, Curtis 2000, for anyone who...

    Very strange "Tink" Noise

Check your U-joints. A breaking needle bearing can make a 'tink'.

    Cab electronics (24v, 12v, 110 AC & lighter port)

Check out a UPS that runs off a 24v battery. Many larger UPS (uninterruptable power supply) boxes run on 24v. They often junked when the batteries go bad. Throw out the bad batteries, feed the UPS 24v from the truck, don't plug in the AC to the UPS, and it runs in emergency mode putting out...

    68 Unimog 404.1 and Ethanol

Hello Karl, The pump lever on the fuel pump works only if the shaft of the fuel pump, from the engine, is not operating the pump. Since most engines tend to stop at about the same rotational location every time, the lever may be fine, just being rendered inoperable by engine position. A bump...

    Currently Recovering my new M1009

Did anyone suggest simply changing the fuel filter and priming to try to get fuel flow going? Stalling while running sure points to lack of fuel. With any old vehicle that's going on a long trip, stuff gets stirred up in the tank and plugs up everything. Bob (who knows nothing about CUCV's)

Step storage for Unimog 404.114 Radio Communications Truck

The normal steps for the 404 radio boxes are two ladders that pull out from underneath in the rear, and one on the side entrance. The rear ladders lift to horizontal position then slide underneath and latch. All are self storing assemblies. Apparently you have something different. Would you...

Met a fellow SS-er today on a traffic stop

I enjoy such a contact....after the contact. You have to admit, it is a little traumatic to be pulled over. I would rather not be pulled over by a LEO just to chat. If I see a LEO tagging along behind for more than a few minutes, I pull over. He can join me if he wants to. That way he does...

    HAARP and the Space Fence

I'm envious of your travel!!!!! Thanks for posting. I got to peek past the front gate at HAARP a couple of years ago. With HAARP shut down, the late night shows will have nothing on which to blame every weather event and loony human action.......mind control !!..... Bob

    AB15 for CB setup

The measurement should be from the mounting plate upward. The shaft through the insulator is part of the radiating length. Have you grounded the end of the coax shield/connector at the base of the antenna? That's a 'must do'. A 1.3 : 1 SWR is getting usable. When you say 'no reading' on...

    Antenna assembly help...

The AB-15 has a drain hole in the bottom of the threaded hole but it usually gets plugged. For occasional use where the MS-sections are removed (as for height clearance) the AB-15 takes care of itself. BTW, the one meter screw-together sections of the British Clansman antennas also fit the...

Impressive collection. Nice to see all this saved for future generations. It's fun to try to ID all the mil stuff. Bob WB4ETT

    Antenna assembly help...

You're welcome. The AB-15 base and those MS sections make, IMHO, the most simple, versatile, and efficient military antenna system available (of the mobile whippy types, of course). My Unimog 404 radio comm box was designed to use up to five of them on top! Bob WB4ETT
