We'll be playing radio again this year. Linking to the trail rides is the main purpose so if you have an operational green radio, please be sure to check in. We can use truck-installed radios or portable ones. Last year we tried to recruit hams, and I know we have several, but the numbers...
The ham bands are 'policed' more now than ever. Many hams have logging programs that also tie into FCC license database, and any callsign entered is immediately displayed with all licensee info. For the last decade or more the FCC has done a decent job supporting hams, much better than for the...
Funny thing about portapots: There's no way to predict how many are needed! No matter how you guess, it'll be wrong. I was at a hamfest this past weekend and there were three pottys at one location. Two were marked "female", and one "male". Guess what, with most of those guys over 60 (nuf...
Xanthus, will you be driving up to Oak Ridge? Isn't that at least half way to Ohio (ok, depends where in Ohio). Have you considered driving up to get it?
Do you know you can haul an S-250 on quite a small trailer? An empty S-250 only weighs about 800 lbs. I hauled one from Denver to...
Agreed, should have chains but otherwise not as scary as some other "look how I did it" on this forum. It's those foot long offset hitches to raise the trailer tongue that scare me. Torque on a hitch is a bad thing.
That is probably correct operation. I believe the Solargizer takes the output from the small solar panel (only 4 or 5 volts) and generates a pulse to apply to the battery. The only way to know exactly what is hitting the battery would be to have the Solargizer hooked up to the battery and...
Yep, those are pictures from here.
The gravel weighs about 3.5 tons for a bed full and the truck hauls that just fine. The quarry is only 6 miles away and I was getting the loads for about $20. That's really cheap when hauling your own. I was making 10 trips a day during the road...
Like, uh, if it's not on U-tube it didn't happen??? LOL???
I don't have a SEE but I have the basic 406 trucks, sets of back hoes and front loaders, and various implements. One loader and hoe came from one of the 6 original prototype SEE's, built on a 406 'mog chassis, Case version.
IMHO there...
Having pressure at first then losing it sounds like the intake filter (inside the reservoir) might be plugged. This starves the pump for fluid.
Have you changed your hydraulic filters? Take out the bolts on the aluminum contraption on top of the reservoir and lift it out.

That looks like the MS-49 through MS-54 series of elements that stack together (with multiple MS-53's). Both Fair Radio and Columbia Electronics show them in their catalogs.
I can't help with ID'ing the radio they were used with but know they were quite common (Korean and earlier). I had some...
It's actually rather convenient to have batteries that when you want to take them out of service, you just take them out of service. Set then out of the way somewhere and not have to worry about topping them up occasionally. My stash of extra cells has been stored for about 7 years now and...
Cranetruck, I support your decision 100%. I have been using wet cell NiCads since the 60's. Some of mine must be 40 years old. All the ones I have had have been used, taken out of service, and obtained for free, but with a little TLC they are servicable for many more years.
I presently...
Thanks for the enjoyable story! Glad you are so close to having the old girl running.
With the fuel pump at the front of the engine, it's a long way to suck gas from the tanks. Please excuse me if you know all this but just in case you haven't gotten this far yet:
This system is bad to suck...
