Agreed, that is a big trailer for a Jeep. Size and weight wise. Matching up the tow heights will be a challenge, too. However, to answer your specific question, is this an M105A1, A2, or A3? The probable A1 and A2 are air-over-hydraulic without a safety tank on the trailer. The A3 has a...
Here are some pictures of my Unimog 404, 1965, ex-German radio truck. I have a setup of the original SEM-35 low-band VHF FM transceiver and antenna matching unit, and some modern ham radio equipment. The radio box has 5 antenna portals on the roof and AB-15 base mounts with various series...
Poor man's Magnaflux: stick a strong magnet near the 'crack'. Brush on a slurry of that stuff that builds up under your shop grinder. If there's a crack, the FE particles migrate to the edges.
Probably just paint cracks.
Glad you all enjoyed the Mt. Evans pictures. There's much more here Rocky Mountain Moggers - Home page
under the "trip reports" section. Just look for Mt Evans trips.
Yeah, it's tough shoveling ice and snow at up to 14k ft. Worst part is the stuff is hard enough you have to break it, then...
Here are some pics of trips to the top of Mt Evans, CO, in the winter after the road is no longer maintained. A group of us have been providing transport to the maintenance crew for the Observatory up on top at 14, 000 ft plus.
It's not a total loss. Think about the situation with 400 Hz feeding 60 Hz stuff. It only matters if the load is frequency sensitive, like motors. Any heating elements, many lights (incandescent for sure, florescent maybe?), transformers, etc, will use the 400 Hz just fine and run cooler...
This and the other thread have been exciting to read! I have a centrifuge, the type installed on big trucks to continuously filter the lubricant, but have not installed it yet.
I'm now thinking that setting up a fixed filter 'station' in the shop might be better. I could still filter the...
I run 14.5 Mchelin XL's on my U-1300L Unimog. Weights are about 7000 lbs each axle for total of 14,000 lb. 35 PSI has proven to be the best pressure for most even tire wear, but also provides a nice ride. At 35 PSI we can venture offroad without airing down and still get good flotation.
I...
Tony,
I see Rockmart in your data. I am the guy who has the old building in Greenback, TN, made with Rockmart Brick about 1900. I built my chimney and fireplace at home out of them, too. Now I know who you are !! Sure enjoyed the chat about Rockmart!
Bob (who never remembers names either)
Amen on the comms. It was 'painful' to not be talking on a radio during the trail rides, and waiting at a meeting point out on the trails for people who were back in camp because cell service stunk.
Talk in via radio would have been great, too. I arrived at 2230 and had no idea where camp was...
This was my first SS rally and WOW what a great time! Sure was nice to meet so many of you. The food was excellent....what a dedicated bunch to do all that for us!!!!!!
I'll add a few pics showing the Hiab crane in action, the big stuck (with "Sam" pushing the truck out!!), the big hole...
Here's how I did it:
Rocky Mountain Moggers - Bob Ragain's Frenchie - Moglite
Those pictures were made over several years as the truck was built but the installation has been complete and working fine for about 8 years now.
My wife and I did this with an M-38 in the late 60's. Works great.
Bob
There have been numerous threads on this forum concerning mil antennas for use on CB. Suggestion: search for AB-15, a common and cheap base to use, and MS-116 series antenna sections.
One 'gottcha' to avoid: does your Pinzi have a ground disconnect main switch? If so, then don't ground your good time radio directly to the battery neg. If you do that, if the main ground switch is opened, the radio neg lead becomes the ground return for the entire truck.
Ground to chassis...
B3.3T is right, you just need to tune the antenna to be an electrical quarter wavelength at 26 to 27 mHz (pick a channel).
Just verifying, you did not get the tuner, right? Is the antenna you do have a simple 2 piece ceramic base insulator and rubber covered spring? Any pictures?
(edit) If...
Hi Mike,
I did some looking and found these specs for the PRC-47 for use on 28 vdc: on transmit the power consumption is 320 Watts, on receive it uses 21W.
Converting this to amps (at 28 vdc) that's about 12 amps on transmit and less than 1 amp on receive.
Depending on your truck battery AH...
