Ha! Sounds similar to mine. Check the upper radiator mount (the little clevis). The one that bolts to the front of the block. I bet it was loose, mine was. These things seem to vibrate so much the only way to keep the radiator together was to actually mount it directly to the engine and its...
So, I finally got around to picking up the radiator this morning... It's been waiting at the shop for a while, but I went to the beach, then to the mountains and it has not been a real high priority... Anyway, it cost me $90 (including tax) to get the neck put back on, the brackets redone...
Small world... I drive through Gordonsville (and have friends there) every time that I go to visit the folks since they live over in Syria (Madison County).
We really should coordinate our trips sometimes as there are some really nice roads and trials to ride in the area...and putting faces...
Graham, if Kenny can't set you up, give me a call... I may have both the speedo stuff and a towbar available... (NOT the towbar that I am saving for Kenny, a different one...)
OK, took at look at the dataplate on my trailer tonight and this is what it has...
5 ton, 4 wheel trailer
NSN 2330-01-226-0709
Engineered Air Systems, Inc. St. Louis, MO
Manufacture's SN TR-100195 (the 195 portion is stamped, the rest is pre-printed making it the 195th trailer perhaps...)...
You can run diesel oil in a gas engine as long as it has the appropriate SAE rating for gas engines... Current gas engine rating is "SJ" which can be used in any gas engine that specified a prior rating such as SB, SG, SH, etc.
Note: Rating that begins with "S" is for "spark ignition" ie...
OE-30: ( Lubricating) Oil, Engine, 30wt
Also known in the civilian world as SAE-30
You can find straight 30wt at most agg supply places, a few auto parts stores near me still cary it. Just about everything that has a straight weight oil specified does well on multiweights so you can run...
Just to jump in and do a little bit of self promotion... I have a page on my website with tire info for M37's that is applicable for the M101 and M101A1 trailers and that is useful for M715 folks as well since they run the same size rubber (but have a different bolt pattern on the wheel)...
The nice thing about Ryan and Graham is that they can run up I85 together into NC where they can join up with us for the run to Doswell (were we meet up with the Florida crowd... hint hint hint Kenny...). I think that cop pulled Graham for a combination of not having the tag and for having...
The more the merrier... I tend to position vehicles in the serial from smaller to larger with the exception that I seem to be in the front every year :) It's a great feeling when you look in the rearview and see that chain of MV's behind you...
Biodiesel and/or WVO is great, but I have...
Sounds like a great idea!! I trust that you will be joining us for the photo shoot (and will have that same "what do I drive" question that I will be having... I can think of a couple of good locations on US301 North of Richmond (ok, in the AP Hill area) that would do well for this...
My...
Hello,
Looks like a good truck. We'll have to get together next time I ride up to your area (I have friends living between Winchester and the WVa line and familly halfway between Winchester and Charlottesville).
I get most of my canvas from either WeeBee Webbing or from New Life Resource...
I'll have to look at the dataplate when I get home, but it is surprisingly high... Although it only has single tires on the axles, they are wide and have a high weight rating. I know that the trailer has had a small dozer on it (John Deere), but I don't want to say until I can eyeball it...
What you need is the small tag trailer that I have in my back yard... It's designed to be towed behing a military five ton truck to haul things like a lundry unit, water purification setup, etc... I've got photos on my website showing it on the day that it was delivered, but have yet to put...
I just hauled my M35A2C's radiator over to a buddy's shop for some TLC... Managed to put a hole in the joint where the top inlet mates to the tank and had the spot welds that hold the brackets to the radiator assembly on the passenger side snap as well (I think that the bracket welds went...
OK, so I didn't drive a MV on this trip (took a buddy's F250 extended cab 4x4 with the Powerstroke with a Banks kit installed and another buddy's 26' tilt deck car trailer) out to Tulsa to snag my '62 Dodge XM708, but it was a MV road trip... :)
Had a super smooth trip out (especially once we...
M1075,
What a bummer... Especially since we only ended up hauling out mounted Michelin 1100r16 XL's... Had lots of space for more stuff... Maybee next time... :)
Guys,
Just wanted to update everyone that I am on the road... I'm sitting in a motel in Lonoke, Arkansas with a very slow internet connection. Will be picking up the XM708 in Tulsa tommorow and then will be headed back east on I40...
If you see a F250 with a the Dodge on the trailer behind...
I will be making a run from Raleigh, NC to Tulsa, OK on June 14, 2006 in order
to pick up a XM708 truck that I just purchased. I'll be riding with a friend in
his F250 and a long, tiltdeck, 6 ton trailer... If anyone is relatively near
I40 and would like something hauled west (or even something...
