Maine depot has a reputation for quality work. The bracket in the battery box is to hold a first aid kit. Obviously had a radio in it. Normally the mount and speakers are pulled off.
What are the brackets on the hood used for on the front of hood by windshield and all around the armor grill? I was thinking combat id panel but why cover grill? I have seen a pic of one in front of windshield pillar to grill but does not match this set up?
Also, another truck had a bracket on...
We need 74m35a2 to chime in as he is the starter/alt guru who does it for a living. He has replacements for the 5 ton M939 crowd. Maybe he can help us here?
saturn surplus had some of those in mixed bags of radio/antenna hardware on epay. I bought several bags and very pleased with the hardware, loom clamps and grommets included.
They have pictures of the assortments posted. Bet you can find one with several split rings and grommets.
That could be it. The pintle extension. I remember reading something here or on G503 on that, I think from Greg 86Humv that to use a pintle extension with tire carrier required a MOD.
I think you have it right as extra insurance. I don't think it can move much anyway. I had a oh duh moment the first time I went to open the tailgate a few weeks after install and started ratcheting without removing the pin. Lets say the ratchet is stronger than the pin. I just thought my...
Bingo! Yeah the 5 pin does not work for me as I am doing the same thing as you. If you ever want to sell the other one, Please keep me in mind!
American Mil-Spec has them on the website but out of stock.
Mine also had a safety pin on the bottom on the rest bracket. Home depot sells the wire. I ordered ferules on epay cheap. I used a redneck press- sledge hammer. :-)
Oh, I did not even think of the tear drops as I did not have them and they go to the main bracket. Another step in the lego set....
Hang in there, well worth the hassle and cost in my opinion.
All the best to your wife!
May I ask where you got one? I am hunting for one with no luck.American Mil-Spec is out and I saw a few sell on epay earlier in the year that I missed.....
The reason you see them sold with all the brackets installed is they torch them off to remove. I don't think that is the easiest way to install.
The main bracket with the body mount needs to go on first as that takes alignment with the body mount to hole and set that bolt first , then the...
that is the wrong one.
As stated, you need 2 L brackets in the middle that bolt to a d ring hole by the seats. The b pillar has a bracket with a plate using 2 bolts to sandwich to the channel of the b pillar. These are right and left different.
I just use chain quick links and add I think 10 pieces of the same diameter chain inbetween the existing chain and the loop on the tailgate. Still has the functionality with the pins and one quick unscrew of a quicklink on each side and it can drop all the way down.
local body and paint store recommended this and it is in stock local for me:

This and the speedkote both claim to be paintable. I suspect they are some flavor of urethane.
found this stuff on ebay and direct from manufacture for those of us with tan trucks:

other colors available:

Product cost is reasonable but shipping one tube for $15 sounds high
