Stock system engages the fan clutch around 220 degrees. I agree with the two previous posters in making sure the stock system functions as designed and add your electric fan as the primary to keep engine temps a little lower.
Silver foil tape on intake and exhaust does not mean nothing is wrong with your truck. Research Mil-Std 3003(B). When we receive trucks, we prepare them for storage aboard MCLB Albany and Barstow and it's a standard practice. We do other stuff as well which is outlined in the Mil-Standard...
My first thought is you still have a fuel delivery / injection issue. Reverse has a very low ratio which is masking the performance issue of the engine. I have a truck powered by the older NHC-250 which is known to be more robust in power at low rpm's thanks to it's huge displacement but your...
We had alot of rain a few years ago and the County Commissioner came to my house and asked if I would mind using my truck for any "High Water Rescue" missions. I asked if the county would help me re-pack the wheel bearings afterwards and was told "No". It wasn't a Flash Flood and people who...
Scott,
I have confirmed I have the manuals. It would probably be best for me to upload onto this site as the Maintenance Manual is 32 MB. It's not the typical military themed manual, this one is straight from the manufacturer which may be more helpful for the type of rebuild you are...
My truck experienced a similar failure that turned out to be an injection pump failure with the similar symptoms as yours. Mine would start, run about 30 seconds, idle up and stall. After some labored cranking it would re-fire and run fine for a while. I was thinking air in system as well...
I plan to be there with so I can hang out with some friends. Cabin reserved and the truck is ready, somehow he Won the April 2019 MV of the Month Contest. Can't wait until October.

Above is a thread on here about my journey in putting a newer 6.5L HMMWV Injection pump onto my 6.2 powered CUCV. Bottom Line Up Front, if the pump you have is calibrated for an N/A motor you should...
I understand distrust of automatic transmissions yet as society evolves I only have 1 manual transmission vehicle in my fleet of personal vehicles. The CUCV you have has a TH-400 transmission which boasts many accolades of reliability. It is not a weak spot and the 6.2 would not likely upset...
I think you've found your answer as to motive power. Now as to your statement of being limited on fabrication skills and budget makes me question why you want to put a manual transmission in. Do you have a currently running truck or is this a brainstorming session?
Eli,
If you can't line up a tow, ask what there policy is on Marine Corps Civilians with a Government Issued MTVR License is. I just so happen to possess one for my job aboard MCLB Albany.
Joseph
CHIEFSONN,
Please post your price on the 50' spools of rubber rope along with the date code and how it has been stored since you've owned it. Mine is coming to pieces on my M923 cover and Yes I am interested and will commit if the price is reasonable and the date code is not too old.
Thanks...
4671 Hybrid,
IF PB can set-up a few more weeks of storage and Simp can get to the truck the first half of August, THAT course of action would be best. I have a few reservations about towing the truck that I was willing to gamble on IF it was a move or lost situation. My first concern is...
PB, just like you've taught me alot over the years on the best way to be a Soldier, CAMO will still be there. You've allowed me to use the name for years as CAMO, Leesburg Detachment for my group in Parades and etc. I'll carry the torch and you will always be our 1SG.
Okay, we are in crunch time. I'm planning on towing this truck tomorrow so at least it is at a safe location. I never got a firm agreement with the owner but he is talking through PM to Simp5782 so I'm going to take that as agreement to the plan that he and Simp put together. For the owner...
Is moving it to Leesburg, Ga off the table? If not, looks like I need to get re-engaged if you cannot get it moved. I let the issue fizzle because you and Papabear had a deal going but I understand things change. Everyone involved has my phone number but just in case, 229-364-2842. Papabear...
When I posted in this thread I still had a Deuce! I did notice a positive difference when switching to Non-Detergent 40W oil in the trans and transfer. I used "Freds" cheap oil and the truck is still pulling peanut wagons just fine for the gentlemen I sold it to. I doubt he has changed it.
There will be a member on here soon who gets one, not me though. I think Simp summed up my reason. M923A0 is about as far forward in the hobby as I want to go. Purely mechanical systems and zero electronics to keep it running. Don't mistake my logic, I love the newer trucks while someone...
