I've learned that even with the wheel not leaking while dismounted, it may still leak when mounted due to the truck's weight squishing the tire. Soapy water in a spray bottle quickly became my friend ;) I discovered a few air leaks at brass fittings this way after noticing enough of a tire...
I used Oatey plumbing silicone grease on my o-rings. It's the stuff from Lowes, non-petroleum.
I also wire brushed and painted the sealing surfaces. During assembly I made sure the o-ring was seated correctly on the rim with a hand and a clean paint stick. Then I seated the clamp ring and...
Thanks for that. For some reason I thought there was a lock ring design that used an O-ring, but thinking about it now I don't know how it wouldn't leak barring real tight tolerances or a really tight ring
If you're working on a bolt-together rim, make sure the clamp ring nuts are...
I've seen a few of these posts addressing multifuel fuel delivery issues. I'm trying to get familiar out of curiosity since my deuce has a Cat motor in it, but do the multifuel diesels usually have more-complicated fuel systems than regular diesels? Or is it just a quirk of this motor design...
I suggest posting your question in the FMTV section since this section is mostly for the trucks that came before the FMTV that don't have modern fuse boxes in them. Aside from that I unfortunately don't have an answer for you :( Good luck!
Where do you guys manage to find these ads? I found one on here someone posted as a promo for the M35A3 and wish I had a hard copy or a PDF that wasn't cut on the edges.
This is a nice find. It makes me want to get an M813 like I originally wanted, but the M939 trucks would work better for me...
Here's a pictures of the air and hydraulic lines of a split-circuit brake system fitted to some M35A2 trucks. I'm guessing the lines are similarly laid out on single-circuit brake trucks until one gets into the split-circuit components.
So three things:
1) Do the brakes on your truck work? If the air assist system is working right, it shouldn't require too much force to work the brakes.
2) What year is your truck? Does it have single-circuit brakes?
3) I don't know of an air diagram specifically for the single-circuit...
I'd think a commercial or construction/ag tire place would be fine with them. The two near me would do them no problem, one of them having done my dad's M37 rims in the past.
When it comes to the bolt-together rims, though, they seem to charge extra since it takes them extra time to break them...
Those seemed to be designed for both the highway and off-road, being able to do 60 and above all day long. I'd love to add one to my stable, but my wife insists upon either an MTV or a HMMWV first :p
I think I'm lucky with my A3 as it was a mail truck at Fort Totten in Queens. I don't think...
If anyone wants top speeds like that, I'd make sure the truck not only has brakes to tolerate stopping, but also tires with the proper speed rating. The surplus Michelin 395s, for example, are rated for a top speed of 55 MPH - and that was when they were new!
I think 395s are a nice and...
I think you can use short and long air packs together. I believe the SMARPI document specifies such a setup assuming an existing long air pack is going to stay. The PDF should be in the deuce TM board.
I love my M35A3 deuce, but if I chose my first truck again it'd be a M939 5-ton. They seem to have less issues and limitations compared to the deuces, only downside of the 5-ton I really see is the size, fuel efficiency, and weight of everything. I never hear about 5-tons being overloaded or...
Here are the troubleshooting steps in PDF format. Unfortunately the text can't easily be copied and pasted into a translator, so I hope you're able to manually type the text into one or know enough English (or have a friend that does) to get through them!
I think that's possible. If there are loose linkages and other parts, levers and slides may not be traveling as far as they should be and things may not engage properly.
Is that possible with the driveshaft connected between the transmission and transfer case? I wouldn't have thought that...
It's been almost two weeks and the tires are still holding air, though this has been true for longer for the front wheels than the rear wheels since they were mounted first. I think I'll call them good and return the tools to their lenders (and add them to my tools-to-get list!). It's been...
I was looking at these pictures from their source again and it turns out that this truck is actually listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace in Michigan. If anyone's serious about getting this machine I suggest checking there! I usually use the search term "military truck" on the Marketplace.
