Snow plow, Boss 10’ V install

Oh, yeah…. So the plow when in “V” position will just contact the bumper when fully raised. It was very hard to judge when it was going to end up when I was putting it together. I might just trim the plow “X” brace where it contacts, it won’t take much. I was much more concerned with the plow...

Snow plow, Boss 10’ V install

Well it finally happened. I caught up on enough other stuff to finish up (almost) the plow installation on my truck. There is still the light wiring to do, and one bracket needs clearance on the coolant pipe. I just gave it a very slow ride down the driveway and it moves plenty of snow……and...

Private Snuffy just about got me..... BIG TIME!!!

It would be a pretty easy part to machine from scratch or from a correctly sized bolt. That way you could engage those five threads you have left. Other option would be to pull the pan, weld it back up and then drill/tap your drain hole again. All sorts of options before you spend a couple...

Anyone happen to know the specs of the connector on the cab for the light/lights? Have a spare….

    Mav’s M1088A1 Conversion

Yeah even if they don’t have the trucks there at motor pool they can request the digital format. Heck if you have the right access you should be able to do the same through the TODO.

    Mav’s M1088A1 Conversion

Yes, the AF has these trucks….

    Mav’s M1088A1 Conversion

Could be an air leak, but it takes next to nothing under that little check valve flapper in the pump to make it not work right. Open the drain valve at the bottom of the bowl, if it doesn’t drain but you can hear the file being sucked back down to the fuel tank this is your issue. If it’s...

    Custom winch wiring.

Excellent work! It looks great, I sure hope it all works for you on the first flip of a switch. Gotta keep that magic smoke inside all the wires and components……once that stuff gets out, you’re hosed!

Deutsch or Weatherpak connectors for my DIY harnesses

I’ve used both, yes the weather pack connectors are bulky but I’ve never had a problem with them. That are also inexpensive. As long as they are crimped correctly I don’t think you should have a problem. As pointed out above the deutsch connectors are more compact. Certainly a factor when...

Bummer, I hope that cable shows up quickly for ya.

    Winch Oil

I’d run it…. If you have doubts send a sample to Blackstone labs for analysis. Worth the $30 or so over the price of near 30 gallons of oil.

Snow plow, Boss 10’ V install

Finally got back to working on the plow setup. A few days ago I routed the plow wiring. I’m very thankful that the Boss plow systems are marginally intrusive as opposed to the fisher setups that tie into everything. So the wiring is in place but not wired in. Coincidentally after routing wires...

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Installed the winter radiator cover. Not too bad, would have been nice to have a second set of hands. I’ve now taken a couple of drives, she warms up quickly! Even had the fan turn on after a 40 minute or so drive. Currently wx is in the 40’s.

    Light switch shutting down truck!?

I’ll second that advice. I knew I should have checked them as soon as I got the truck, I’ve had some odd issues/shutdown, no-starts etc. I found terribly corroded washers under the battery cable connection at my battery shut off switch. The picture below is of those washers. Everything is...

    fmtv winter front cover .

U Understood, I’ve used cardboard in the past on various vehicles. It works great, I was excited to see the OE solution so inexpensive. Hopefully there is a few tricks up my sleeve somewhere to make it easier on the install. Ronmar, I think that’s a great idea. If there was a remotely...

    fmtv winter front cover .

Five just showed up on EBay….. well, Four just showed up on eBay for a price with shipping that didn’t make messing around with cardboard worth the time. FYI.

    M1078A1 voltage issues/no power

Yes, that shouldn’t affect functionality of the relay, but can send dangerous voltage spikes through the system. That’s what the diodes are there for. Someone should be along shortly with a clearer answer. Hehehe

    M1078A1 voltage issues/no power

    M1078A1 voltage issues/no power

Got it fixed. As per standard I’m the cause of most of my issues…. The first no start was due to bad connections in the disconnect area, and I also found issues with the relay diodes which I replaced. But in my haste to finish the fix I hooked up the main ground to the wrong terminal giving odd...
