The rubber ball has zinged off the wall again...
As I recall, the kids in Norway loved getting them too. We were deployed there in 1980, the Marines were assigned the NATO role of assisting the Norwegians with security (their northern border is with Russia).
One incident stands out to me as a...
Well, there are at least two of you in the world! I had a civilian buddy named Louis who also loved the green eggs and ham. So long as I didn't have to carry too many around with me, I'd collect a few cans each time we went in the field and bring them to him.
Dog food, yep. I think it was...
In Texas you'll need a Class A license because of the vehicle weight rating in excess of 26k pounds
If you are driving it for personal use only, as in never for compensation of any kind (like even someone buying you lunch if you haul something for them), you can get a non-commercial Class A...
If I recall correctly it was called 'Ham and Eggs, Chopped', two good things pureed together to create a green gelled mass of disgustingness. Ugh!!
And what did I say whenever I was unlucky enough to draw said ration? "I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like them Sam I am!"
We...
Cindy Lou Who, and me! I loved those books as a kid, and later reading them to my kids. The Birthday Book was my first one, which is why the attached is my usual birthday 'card' to folks I know.
Cheers
Goodnight Moon. There was a Final Jeopardy question on the show (early this year?) pertaining to that book, the answer being the title. I had thought it a silly easy question and was quite surprised by the outcome - none of the contestants got it right! I suppose they hadn't read the book...
There is a whole thread on that topic with all the details.
The short answer is no, you don't have to have a Commercial license, but you do need to have at least a non-commercial Class A license to operate MVs with a gross weight rating in excess of 26,000 pounds (regardless of whether or not...
Having undergone the indignity of having someone else drop an open quart bottle of Dot 5 in my M813 cab, I put mine on the firewall in the engine bay, just inside the side panel of the deuces. ;)
Cheers
Okay, this is my preliminary OPINION on what I have read, backed up by 30 years of dealing professionally with Texas traffic law, but still my own opinion. That said....
In Texas, we have been dealing with registering military vehicles under 504.502 Exhibition Vehicles. That code stated that...
For Texas military vehicle owners, IN MY OPINION the only real changes are that the new law specifically says that Texas DMV will title and register Humvees as FMVs for on-road use, even if they come with paperwork stamped Off-Road Use Only, which is good.
And tracked vehicles are now...
Hopping trains - seems it was a common thing in our youth.
Back in my Marine days when I was stationed on Camp Pendleton, there were still freight trains running up and down the coast to San Diego, etc. My buddy Isaac W and I used to spend a lot of our liberty days in Oceanside or San Diego...
The 6x6 is a Mowag Duro. As stated above, the Mite-type vehicle is an Austin Champ. I have one, at least one other SS member, Mkcoen has one. Standard British Army Land Rover ambulance next to the Duro.

In pretty much every story of someone getting in trouble in an MV, it starts out with "I was minding my own business, driving to church, when I was harassed by the police for no reason". Later when the details come out the story becomes something like the guy in the M20 driving around firing...
Steve, your pictures come up as links to those of us on computers (I don't know if phones automatically show them?) so for posterity and us less "mobile" types, I'll add your pictures here. ;)
I see you got it installed pretty quick, looks great!
Cheers
The 5-ton MTV cover is longer than the M939 cargo beds (almost 15'), so it will be loose and sloppy on a 14' bed.
It is also about 10" taller, so you either make taller sides for your bows, or it just hangs further down the sides of the bed.
The good news is it does fit the Marine Corps ISO...
Yep! Miggins has some very cool toys. :) His forklift turns me pea green with envy....
It is so hard to pick one vehicle, or combination, from the list.
A lot of folks don't realize the amount of work goes that into restoring and maintaining the large trailers, they can be just...
