You Southern boys don't really understand ice fishing. You see you have this shack you tow out on the lake but it is what is in the shack that counts! Honda EU2000 generator, Satellite receiver, TV, couple lounge chairs, heater. The floor is the fridge so no worries there. YUP, We be fishin'...
Hey Doghead, need an ice fishing partner? I'll come back to this in the spring when the supernerds are done showing off. If I am ice fishing I can't get any of it on my dumb phone.
You are going to get all the same "EXPERTS" as any other thread. That is why I no longer post on here about this problem. By the way, there is no track bar on a CUCV.
Good point, You will need commercial insurance no matter what because you are hauling for profit. I get the feeling that was what he might be trying to avoid.
In any business reliability and parts availability is everything. I don't think you have either with the military truck plus the parts, when you find them, will be expensive. I second the pick-up and trailer. Does not really have to be diesel, when you compare the price of gas to diesel and then...
Looking at that picture again I see that the generator head is towards the tongue and it also looks like the engine is ahead of the axle as well with only the control unit on the back side of the axle. If that is the case you probably could mount a fairly large tank on the back. Problem is that...
You have room front and back, why don't you think about two tanks but have them plumbed together so that they empty at the same rate and therefore keep the load balanced. All it would take is a 1/4 inch line between the two tanks and that would even out the level but not allow a rapid transfer...
50 gallons of fuel forward of the unit adds 350lbs of weight to the tongue of the trailer!! You may want to rethink that and go with multiple smaller tanks distributed evenly.
This is exactly why I have followed Soni's work for many years. PLUS, he is doing it outside! No garage here. How many of you guys build something like this in the winter outside?
Can I suggest this thread be deleted or moved elsewhere? When I see HELP I jump right to it only to find a post that is months old. Not much I can do to help there.
Rick
You can get the same one as above from Harbor freight cheaper. Yea, I know where it is made but it works and they sell the needle kits. I can buy four of those guns before coming close to the price of an American one. I save that money for the impact guns and hand tools, US made only!
Man I would not want to keep that thing in tires!!! I figure those fronts will last 5,000 miles if not doing any city driving. And you better have a healthy air brake system.
30,000 lbs, plus with a pintle! WOW. You know, there are some jobs that regardless how bad you want to do them cheaply you have to realize that there is no way to do so safely. This is a job for people with experience in moving not only heavy loads but heavy WHEELED loads that, if not secured...
