thats because the U.S. Gov has put stricter emission standards for diesel fuel and engines... Hint (ULSD) Ultra-low-sulfur diesel to lower emissions so it costs more for refineries to make it and we the people take a arrow in the knee because of it ( higher prices at the pump)

just get a new GM one rockauto.com has em for about $140 then get new window guide Felt ( you can pick this up at crafting store ) this is a must then your problem is over for years unless you are rough with it.

mines doing the same thing a little only when it's in drive... at a stop but at idle it seems ok i think it's an injector issue with mine the injectors have 71k miles on em

replace all (yes all 8 glow plugs then go from there (So those of you that are starting cold does your GP Relay cycle repeatedly or does it turn on and then off when the wait light goes off?) yes thats normal for it to cycle 3 times max after it starts, you will hear the engine sound...
