I've got news folks - this isn't a GL issue per-se. First, I can only think of two trucks I've bought from GL, vs several from DRMO. On the the DRMO trucks I had levers, shackles, fuel pumps, light switches and even a windshield taken through the years at Riley, Campbell, and Shelby.
So - who...
Relatively speaking, I am a noob here. Granted, this is my own fault, for years ago when SteelSoldiers and I were in the same local MVPA group, and he excitedly told us about this wondeful idea he had for a web forum called "Steel Soldiers", I barely knew how to turn the computer on.
Time...
I saw this truck in Iola - it looks very nice. The original heavy duty off-road fifth wheel and ramps have been replaced by a standard commercial unit, which may be more practical as a User vehicle, rather than a collector vehicle. Tom or one of his posse all said the truck was powered by a...
My .02,
Your insurance carrier's written opinion is one of the keys. The other keys are how good are your maintenance and driving skills. You are trusting a dozen lives to the single-circuit brake system - because as pointed out the only crash protection is your skill. The truck was designed...
There are a handful of vehicles and vendors outside - the bulk - including some country boy from Tennessee selling books - are inside.

The VIN is C133-10?72 - the question mark should be another number - and the zero you posted earlier would fit. The Army Registration number is 05C-00371. The VIN is also embossed in the left frame rail near the front wheel. The truck was built in 1971.
Hope this helps,
David
RE: Re: RE: dangerous truck
I belong to a military vehicle club that has one rule - don't talk bad about the way another man's truck looks. I believe this is a very good rule indeed.
There are some well meaning people here who have a vast amount of experience (and training, at the US...
This truck was built by the Lansing Division of White in 1962 - specifically in September or October on contract DA-20-018-ORD-24360, thus when built it was not a M49A2C, but rather a M49C. It was originally powered by a OA-331 6-cylinder gasoline engine.
The Lansing Division of White was...
Having had an analytical chemical lab do some testing on DOT 5 and DOT 3, I can say with absolute certainty that if you mix the two, the purple color moves to the DOT3, leaving the DOT 5 clear.
Something to remember.

The dash data plate is a replacement.
ASSUMING the VIN number on it is correct, its a 1967 Kaiser-Jeep. IF that is the case, it is stamped on the driver's side frame rail. Your photo drivers 011.jpg is the right gerneral area - but it looks like you've scraped an inch or two too low. The...
One of the factors in answering your question - what color? If you are doing a factory-type restoration, the engine would not be the same color as the body. (Dode engines were grey or silver - just don't remember which at the moment). And a good auto parts store should be able to get you...
Re: RE: logo
No its not original. The stamping is from a civy Studebaker and was attached to the hood side panels while the truck was on exhibit at the old Studebaker museum in South Bend.
Early in WWII the military forbade the large corporate logos that are present on the early Ford and...
depending on how north in VA the truck is - you may try M35Tom - his is in the Baltimore area, and I think he mentioned having some transmissions - or parts.

David
