So your thinking Expo FMTV .. Max height ??

I must be dense but I am still kind of scratching my head at the need for the truck to be, say, <11ft vs <12ft vs <13ft. Is all this effort really so it can be driven under some weird bridge in North Carolina and in the couple of places where they don't fit (even though there's probably a...

    WD40 paint refresh

Is the issue with silicone products that it's harmful to the paint - as it sits - or - it makes re-painting difficult. I kind of heard the latter sentiment. I know when I painted our jeeps we went to a lot of trouble to strip surface contaminants w/ the PPG system chemicals. On the trailer I was...

My sherwin williams sales guy calls it paint. Perhaps a distinction without a difference.

Sigh all that happens when people don't cut dead-fall is they just go around it and screw the trail up even more. Anyways point being, in 12' out here, you fit on in-use roads and some seldom used roads that are no longer maintained. The tracks, not at all. Our tracks fit Jeeps in the mountains...

So your thinking Expo FMTV .. Max height ??

Out here LEO and lands people are generally appreciative IF you cut on improved gravel roads (the forest roads). You are a hero if you cut on hardball. I've had rangers stop, thank me and ask if I would cut more. But obviously these are cases where you are cutting an established road, and more...

So your thinking Expo FMTV .. Max height ??

What's the definition of success? ie, at what height is it unacceptable. Certainly you don't want to be over 13'6. But even with a S-280, which is 87" on the 60" deck of the truck, you're still under 12 feet. You can go just anywhere in 12 feet, including Zion if you get the tunnel permit. For...

    WD40 paint refresh

A "coating" is something that is applied to a substrate, and a "paint" is a wet application with a specific (engineered) dye or color. The CARC family includes "paint" products, and is a paint, by nearly any definition. It also includes powder coating products. If you want to be pedantic...

So your thinking Expo FMTV .. Max height ??

On a tangent likewise a lot of guys seem to take "off-road" to mean "off-pavement" bladed (improved) dirt roads, like developed forest roads. I always personally took off-road to mean no-road (a track). I mean just about everyone thinks a gravel road is still a road, right. I guess what we do...

I'm just trying to get a clear sense of what you mean, no judgment. Over-landing is another popular term.

    WD40 paint refresh

If you were asking me, I spray it w/ a HVLP gun. It's the easiest paint system to use I have ever worked with, very forgiving. If you get a drip you just dab it up with a shop towel and the finish comes out fine. I've never rolled it but I have painted it with a brush a bit. You would probably...

If your definition of "expedition" means domestic (North American) travel, I wouldn't worry about it as long as you are DOT legal at 13'6. Reason being that even though there may be restrictions, there is always a way around, because commerce must be done. In reality I've found you hit the...

    CARC powder coating

The spec sheet for whatever you end up going with would/should say. It may vary between vendors. Careful because a lot of times they list substrate temp, which is how hot the item can get after the PC is done with. So you don't PC your exhaust manifold etc. That's not the cure temp.

    CARC powder coating

Yes, you can get matte black PC. It is very common. I use the flat black rustoleum high temp stuff - I think they mean it for grills - on the underside of my jeeps. Works a peach.

    CARC powder coating

No one sells CARC huh? Then how is it I walked downstairs and took this picture? CARC paint - and OP is asking about powder coating - CARC paint is no more toxic than any other 2K paint system.
