I'm wondering if we couldn't just take a bunch of pictures and send it over to a big European truck parts counter in Germany or the UK and/or send it to the unimog parts crew (the hobby people like us) over there. I don't know why but I just have this gut feeling that it's originally a Volvo (or...
So here's a trick for you all that I learned from the professional who came out to change my first tire when I was out in the middle of nowhere. The bottle jack does not have enough reach to lift the axle high enough. In this case I just dug the ground out the extra inch or two I needed. What he...
So on a certain popular auction site right now there's an auction up for a FMTV style door handle. It looks just like mine - and like everyone else I need one - except the handle part is chrome. I am thinking there is no way the gov't ever ordered chrome door handles on a tactical truck, whether...
All done. Nobody messed with the truck thankfully, but at least someone came through because the tree I snagged up on in the first place was already cleared out, which I was expecting on having to do.

I just usually feel terrible about running sheet metal screws through sheet metal... Holes get mangled up sooner or later and corrode, but I guess if you are not going to remove/replace much it isn't going to matter too much.
I've got a non compliant Jeep as do a lot of my friends, and we've never popped for it. I didn't even have any fenders at all for a year. Had cops point it out a couple of times but nobody seemed to care. Maybe we're just lucky or it's a lot of where you are.
You're right about the comms thing...
As usual these laws are state by state. Here in Washington state it is illegal (RCW 46.37.480) to wear a headset that covers both ears. I don't believe wearing a helmet while driving is illegal in my state, or anyways, I have never come across that law.
That said I've been wearing comms...
My Milwaukee rattled off all the bolts without the slightest hesitation. Did an entire wheel, dismount and mount, on one charge and still had a bunch of juice left.
Well, now I know how to mount wheels. Bought a couple of dismounted goodyears today, and mounted up one on the spare wheel that I had previously blown which was sitting here at the shop. Will take it up and rescue the truck tomorrow.
In general for this stuff after years of using air now I...
Cool. I haven't decided when I'll be down there next - where to winter - but I'll keep that in mind. In this case I had to leave the truck up in the mountains, so I need just about anything round as quickly as I can get it, so I can fetch the truck back. I've got some good leads to get a tire...
Anyone know the size for a LMTV lug nut? and bonus points the nuts that hold the wheel together?
I've got to buy some sockets and my tuck is not here. Got my 2nd flat and had to leave it up in the mtns. I think it's time to get tires that were made later than 2004...
Since they have so few (3?) people working to process the EUCs, it is probably too volatile to meaningfully forecast. All that has to happen is someone gets sick and you are talking about a 33% reduction in throughput. Or they go to training. And who knows what other responsibilities they may or...
I bought a trailer a month or more ago and just walked into the bank and sent a wire. GP had posted the payment by the next day. No problems.
I don't seem to have the SF97 though...
Thanks for your quality input. I'm not too worried what other people think, I'm going to wear at least a bump helmet and that's just that, but, I am both surprised and entertained by the... latitude of opinions in the discussion.
I run comms basically anytime I am in the truck and that is a...
