Had a great time again, always a blast at Rausch Creek. The weather was good, we were able to have a campfire this time, and noone's truck got seriously damaged. One gent had to go to the hospital for an injury sustained while wrenching in the parking lot, but after a short hospital visit he...
Packed up for the most part - have to stay around here until 1pm, I have to work at the family farm around noon and get things squared away tractor-wise since I won't be there this weekend to do it. Have to stop in Frederick MD on the way up to pay a bill. Should be there around 5pm or so...
Some folks have brought campers with them for convenience, however I will say this: MV owners tend to be pretty rugged folks. If you can't handle a little cool weather and some very modest sleeping quarters in the back end of your trucks, what are you doing?
I will be coming up a little later...
Wow, awesome vids! Bet you are proud of that truck, you have put a lot of work into it and now that it moves (and moves well!) bet you can't wait to make it's first long journey in it!
That beast actually sounds very quiet - the second video barely records any interior noise. How does it...
I have owned both an M100 trailer, and several M416 trailers. IIRC they looked identical, I would guess the M100 version could be used on the M416 without any problems. If there are minor problems with fitting, like width in the "groove" perhaps it can be remedied with a grinder to make it work?
The LEAST number of people we had at this rally was 5 trucks and 6 guys, but that was the first rally and it was kinda a test run. Since then we regularly get 10-20 trucks and 15-30 people. Big enough for a showing, but small enough to keep it personal.
Less than a week to go!
2 weeks to go, guys!
Anyone showing up on Friday with plans to wheel? Or is everyone who is showing up on Friday coming in late and only plan on wheeling on Sat. and Sun.? We need to plan someone getting there early and roping off our spot with cones and rope...
Many thanks to moving chicane, and dk8019 and his wife, for coming out for the Torsk work weekend, you all did a heckuva job and from what Mike E. the chief of the boat told me, this was one of the most successful work weekends yet. A record number of participants, and a record amount of tasks...
I remember reading about 4 of your truck builds in Four Wheeler magazine - 2 were the War Wagon (both configurations of it), 1 was the faux-HET build, and 1 was the Scorpion. I think this will become the 5th. :)
He has other texts of lots of other models of WWII and post-WWII armor, and how many are left and where they are. After looking through them, however, it seems that the only ones photographed are either in govt. museums, acting as gate guards to military installations, displayed at VFW and...
This guy did a pretty good job of tracking down as many as he could for this "how many survive?" text. I'm sure there are some that missed his research, but suffice to say this is the lion's share of them.
Ditto what the above said. We need to know what you threw in the tanks, and the noises/smells/sights that you experienced when you last tried to start it up. Only then can we help you.
Need any of the following parts manuals for M101 105mm howitzer, in .pdf form:
TM 9-1015-203-20P
TM 9-1015-203-34P
Anyone have a copy? Can't find it anywhere online.
