That sunbrella stuff is worth the premium. I have a boat cover make with it that is over 15 years old and still going strong. That's after the first cover was falling apart after a few years.
Can't argue that. Georgetown used to lean heaviliy conservative and was the polar opposite of Austin, but it's a different world these days. All of central TX has been exploding with growth for the last decade or more. I guess it's better than living in a dying region/city, but it's not...
Yeah, none of this is in Austin. My appointment this week was in pflugerville and the one later this month is in oak hill. I don’t live in any city, Austin is on my profile because i needed something and it’s the biggest city nearby.
They also have drive-thru service. I went to my appt. on Monday (for another vehicle) and the drive through line had about 100 cars in it. My understanding is that you can do registration at the drive through, but you must make an appt. for the title stuff.
Yeah, I had an appt for May 2nd (monday) and my title arrived on Tuesday. My next appointment is on May 20th. I have printouts of the appointments along with title copy in the truck. I figure a cop would have to be a pretty big jerk to give me a ticket after showing him I just got the title...
+1, I was also September with EUC arriving in Feb. Glad to hear GP and the governement seems to be doing better with this stuff.
I just got my title this week, which was supposed to just be an SF97 (another story). I would encourage calling early and often, the GP process seems to get stuck...
I finally changed the trans fluid on my 1123 that I got back in Feb. I also changed all the rubber hoses on the ATF lines underneath and up by the cooler. The rubber wasn't too bad, but I decided to go ahead and do all hoses as insurance. It's a bit of a spaghetti mess where they branch off...
A little offset variation isn't going to cause immediate implosion of the suspension or hubs, but any time you are working outside of the original engineering design you are typically increasing the risk of issues. Those changes might increase wear and tear on the suspension components or could...
I tend to agree with this line of thinking with a stock setup, but this logic is debatable once you add oversized wheels and particularly a non-stock offset. If I were a betting man, I'd say that a properly maintained stock spindle nut setup would probably be fine with the aftermarket...
I don't believe my 1123 has engine braking except in 1st and 2nd gear and I think that is as designed. The manual linked below does a nice job of describing the intended behavior of the transmission, including the lockout testing procedure by pressing the brake pedal while at speed...
Same. I was originally going to skip putting it back on, but I couldn't stand the hole in the dash and hoses going to nowhere. I could have just installed the valve for looks and cleaned up the hoses, but I would have known... It's a system I'll probably never use and just another thing that...
I'm totally new to these trucks and I elected to go with a soft top. One of my assumptions was that a soft top would radiate less heat to the interior compared to a hard top. They will both heat up, but my experience with metal roof/walls in cargo vans is that all metal surfaces exposed to the...
It sounds like it's in limp mode (which means fixed in 2nd gear). This document (link below) has some really good info about how the transmission works and how to troubleshoot it. I'd start by checking the breaker behind the passenger seat. The transmissions is all electronic and the brain...
That eaton box makes a lot of sense. Is the stock dual voltage hmmwv regulator doing the same/similar thing to keep things reasonablfy balanced? From voltage behavior I'm seeing, the regulator is clearly doing something different between the 12v and 24v outputs.
Yes, just saying that you can get to amp hours once you have the current from the shunt (and obviously the voltage and duration). I'm not saying the hmmwv is using it's shunt that way. I assume there is nothing "intelligent" going on in this system like with a modern car with shunt and smart...
Yeah, but at some point you are maxing out what's possible with a belt driven unit of a reasonable size. From the pics I've seen of the 400a generator, that's got to be pushing the max. That puts out a bit of power, but nowhere near 30kw. I'm guessing this failed because it just makes more...
60hp would be about right. I’ve read that the cooling fan can pull 20hp as well, so you are at 80hp plus whatever you loose with other stuff spinning. It don’t think they would intend to operate it while it’s driving, so it seems doable. I don’t think it would push the limits of the engine...
Thanks. Yeah, I get the concept, just wondering how it works. I figured there are no fancy electronics here comparing voltages between the batteries, but maybe there is some simple logic/method in the voltage regulator keeping a balance? I just assumed it was analog based on the wide...
Are you just doing yours from the top/passenger side and flexing the fan blades to get access or coming at it from another direction?
I'm guessing those blades are tough enoug to take it, but I got nervous with how much they were bending and ended up switching to a small 3/8" adapter with a...
