Thanks for the replies. Based on the feedback, it does sound like that yellow insulated wire on the back battery is a power supply from the 12v generator output. After doing more testing, it see that the 12v output runs high for a bit (I've seen it as high as 15.4v), but settles down after a...
I'm trying to understand the design of the electrical system on my m1123 and trouble shooting a battery balance issue. I have the 200a dual voltage generator. Everything seems to be working OK, but I have a pretty significant battery imbalance. It's not the batteries because I've swapped...
I don't know anything about the reliability of the 60a unit, but your logic makes sense to me if they are reliable. The 200a generators are extreme overkill for what many people are using their trucks for. I'm sure there are exceptions for folks running a ton of electronics, but even modern...
I bought one of these extractors years ago and they work amazingly well. Even for vehicles that are easy to drain from below with a plug, I often use the extractor because it's such a clean and easy process. You can also use it to quickly empty a power steering or hydraulic fluid reservoir...
Thanks. While I'm far from an expert on this hmmwv stuff, I know enough about electrical systems to be pretty dangerous. Pic below is the system I built for my camper van. The 4 boxes on the right are custom DIY lithium batteries that can power a rooftop AC for multiple nights. I'm trying to...
I'm not sure I can help with the wisdom or hmmwv expert thing, but intermittent electrical stuff is often caused by a poor connection. If you have not already done so, it's probably worth going through all the ground points and also the major positive connections at the bus bar, starter...
I didn't even realize there were 2 switches, I guess I have another thing to check. I guess the torque convertor switch controls the lockout? I'm not sure mine is locking out, I don't feel it doing anything after it gets into 4th.
Yep, I'll that to my list.
I was able to adjust the...
Thanks. I haven't had my doghouse off recently, but I think that is the same or similar to what I have. Looks easy enough to test, I'm guessing it's just out of adjustment.
Thanks, that makes sense. I'll check the adjustment, I'm guessing it's just not hitting the limit switch. With basically zero miles on my truck since 09 rebuild, I've found quite a few "shake-out" issues like you might expect. Besides some loose bolts and wires and a poorly aligned hood, the...
Yes, transmission is downshifting fine. I wasn’t sure if they share a switch/sensor. I don’t have to floor it to get a downshift, so was thinking there is more going on there with transmission control module. I’ve got a 4 speed if that matters.
I've tried the "mash and release" and also holding it down for ~5 seconds. Neither is releasing the fan. As I understand it, the feature is for 2 things - disengage the fan for fording and also to provide a short boost of extra power when needed. It's not a high priority problem for me, but...
As I understand it, I should be able to temporariliy disengage the cooling fan for ~15 seconds by flooring the accelerator pedal.
I think my cooling system is working properly otherwise, with the fan kicking on periodically and then disengaging after running for a minute or so.
My assumption...
Is there any way to get an accurate rpm using the existing sensor (or any other approach) if I don’t have a tach? I see the $25 tool and might go that route, but wondering if there is a free approach using a multimeter or something. I feel like my truck may be idling a bit high, but I don’t...
Have you received it yet and is it formed? I found the 23500084 referenced in that article at both kascar and Mac, but the hose in the picture for kascar is just a length of 3/4 heater hose. No pic at Mac motors and they show out of stock.
I am planning to swap all my cooling system hoses and do a coolant change. Is this hose shown below just a length of heater hose or is it a formed hose? It's the hose between the water pump and the thermostat housing. When I first looked at all the formed hosese I thought I needed, I thought...
Isn't capacity more like 6-7 gal? I thought it was 26 quarts (6.5 gal) ? That makes for a very expensive fluid change. I'm seeing the Evans stuff at around $50/gal, but that's nearly 10x the cost of regular antifreeze if you are using the concentrate and mixing with distilled water. I'm all...
Jeeze, this stuff is mind twisting. I have 4 gallons of the "any make" preston coolant and a full set of replacement hoses sitting ready for swap. I'm starting to think I'm better off leaving in the 13 year old coolant (that looks perfect) rather than dooming my truck forever with new coolant...
Mine was 2009 IROAN in Barstow. It's hard to say 100% what was replaced, but I feel like I have a decent idea and it seems fair to call it a rebuil (right or wrong). The motor and transmission were both rebuilt w/ 2009 rebuild tags, which seems common. If you believe the mileage at iroan...
