Wow! THERES's a spare tire location I hadn't considered! I bet its HECK on door hinges though. Its nice to see the dog is doing what he can to keep the tires moist. Every little bit helps. oddshot

    Painted my deuce

You WOULD bring up that thread. Just about every time I FINALLY tell myself that I want to paint my Deuce ONE COLOR GREEN ... somebody else comes up with a VERY SHARP Camo job. *sigh* Nice job WB ... it looks REAL good. oddshot

    roll-up/down radiator covers

This whole premise sorta reminds me of the the front of the old M-3 Halftrack. I know the "slats" were horizontal ... and there to deflect (real) small arms fire ... ... but if you're thinking about a whole redesign ... maybe that is something to think about. oddshot

    Bobbed Deuce Wheel Back Spacing

I'm just doing mine too ... you can find a lot of good reading to be found on this forum if you do a search on each subject you asked about. This place is like a HUGE library. Just reading some of these threads I can sometimes find answers to questions that I haven't even considered ...

    under-hood insulation

FWIW ... 10 years ago, I began a restoration projects on 2, 1970 vintage, MGB's, a roadster and a GT. Both cars were stripped to bare metal, ANY panel that showed through rust was replaced, including rockers, sills, floors, fenders etc. Because I was aware that there was NO rust prevention...

    under-hood insulation

I worry about adding sound deadening to the Deuce. My concern is that what every method you use will not be completely water tight ... and will hold water against the steel ... causing rust to develop that will not be easily detected. I remember working at dealerships in the 1970's ... back...

    roll-up/down radiator covers

I couldn't find the article about the radiator cover on that site ... But my first car had a pull UP radiator cover that worked pretty simply and effectively. The car was a 1960 Volvo PV 544. Because this car was designed for use in VERY severe winter conditions, it had a canvas "window...

About new rod bolts ... you might want to check out this thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce-modification-hot-rodding/60703-anyone-have-rod-bolt-they-could-loan-me-know-their-measurements.html As for head gaskets ... I'm pretty sure I saw a set of the new type offered on the classified...

You might want to read this thread ... check out posts #3, 7, and 10. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/49356-sprag-pop-rolling-backwards.html I was doing a little digging about the sprag today ... during my search I came up with another REAL good thread with an excellent explanation ...

    No Brakes!!!!!!!

There's the lad! You can fudge a LOT of stuff on the Deuce ... but the brakes, as simple as they are, are VITALLY important to get right. You've only got a single circuit. If you lose just a piece of it ... there is simply NO wiggle room. BTW ... you can find ALL the manuals you will need to...

Muffler & Resonator Install w/Empirical Results

Thank you for this VERY comprehensive test. It would be useful to see a number of exhaust systems done in this same manner for comparison. You are correct. It is about butt ugly. Maybe a little paint would serve to blend it all in. oddshot

    No Brakes!!!!!!!

That's my point, he isn't going to "Inspect and adjust" ... He's just gonna bleed. I wonder if this might sound familiar: "Now, there is something we need to discuss here. As this is a single reservoir brake system, ONE failure……. ONE blown wheel cylinder, ONE rotted brake hose, ONE...

    No Brakes!!!!!!!

lesseelesseelessee ... ... you just bought the truck ... it has/had no brakes ... you didn't even bother to pull the wheels ... you "TRIED" adjusting the brakes ... but the back plates are dry ... so you figure everything is OK. It sounds like you got it ALL covered. My bad. Sorry. Keep...

    Old Faithful never fails (Yet!)

BTM ... the bumper looks fairly substantial. What did you build it outta? The extra tail lights are a good idea. I keep thinking about that when I look at the rear of mine, but I hate the idea of getting rid of the orig lights. Maybe I'll just put a pair on each side. oddshot

    Old Faithful never fails (Yet!)

Don't you dare!!! WE LOVE deuce porn!!! Just get a good side view ... and maybe a front shot and post it on that thread. Advice? Sure. Before you ask ANY questions around here ... 1) Read ALL the appropriate TM's first. 2) ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS Use the search function. 3) NEVER NEVER...

    No Brakes!!!!!!!

This sentence kinda jumps out at me ... because improperly adjusted brakes CAN pump up. Check the manual to get the correct procedure for adjusting brakes; adjust them PROPERLY before doing anything else. THEN re-bleed the system. But remember ... There is a sequence to follow when bleeding...

    bobbing 1st deuce

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE HEADS UP!!! I am starting my bob job in 10 days. I *ASSUMED* that the axle would have had some sort of indent for the head of that bolt to fit in to as a locator as found in most automotive and light truck applications. You just never know when something you...
