    Length

 Remember that the Mule CG is right about the center of the rear axle, so on a short trailer they handle best if you can back it on (so the tail doesn't wag the dog). Cheers

    HEMTT and MK48 Cabs

It is my understanding that there are significant differences between them. Details will have to come from others. Cheers
  3. M813rc

    Length

Right at 83" from front of front tire to back of back tire, measured on the extremes of the diameter (on M274A5). Cheers

What's your best 'that was dumb' moment involving your 5 ton?

MAdams, I'd bet money your truck (or at least part I can see) came out of the Marine Corps! ;) My contribution- Start M931, watch gauges. Air building, but will only go to around 50 pounds on the gauges. Visions of compressor failures, blown air lines, etc. flash through my mind, why isn't...

    blown fuse

    Circled in red. Cheers

    What are you guys paying?

Haoleb does have a point. Remember that the further it strays into "modified", the less it's actual value as a military vehicle. Also, look closely at the truck/pictures to see how much of the original equipment is missing (the front shackles and the battery trays, for example), and how well...

    What are you guys paying?

Some basic information for you- There were no production dually CUCVs for the military, all were converted from single rear wheel trucks with a kit. Many were done in depots, some were converted by units. M1028A2 was converted from M1028A1 and M1031 M1028A3 was converted from M1028, thus the...

S-250 shelter recovery - how best to haul

Glad you got it home okay and it isn't a goat shed. [thumbzup] I seriously overestimated the size of your trailer from the pictures in post 1! Cheers

    Spinning Antenna Mount Bolt

If it's the ones behind the doors, you can actually reach up from below inside the panel and get at the interior nuts. I managed it on both sides. I admit that it was not a quick and easy job, and entailed some off-colour language, but it did work. Cheers

S-250 shelter recovery - how best to haul

An empty S250 weighs a little over 700#, they are not difficult to move by methods described above. It will not fit in an M101A2 without modification of the wheel wells, the S250 is just a tad too wide at the bottom. Cheers

How To Get Your Trailered MEP-803A Home

Last time I went to Ft Irwin as an instructor, I rode down from Las Vegas with a guy from "a government agency". He was following his GPS to get to the base, even when it took us off pavement onto tracks in the desert. I told him this was definitely not the right way, that we should be on a...

    Red River Army Depot

It is tragic seeing so much savable stuff getting trashed! And the miles of new-but-never-to-be-completed MRAP chassis. :-( But yes, not even a loose bolt on the ground would get picked up by me. Cheers

How To Get Your Trailered MEP-803A Home

One more point - check your state law, but in Texas at least, the safety chains have to go to something permanently mounted on the vehicle. Hooking them to the removable part of the hitch itself is not legal (though I maaaay admit to having done that myself once), because the point is to have...

    Red River Army Depot

Last time I went to RRAD, my girlfriend came along, but forgot to bring her own ID card. She got to sit in the security office and visit with them until I got back with the trailer! No ID on your person, no entry on that base, even if you are a passenger. They were very pleasant about it, but...

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Don't take this personally, please, but if it's one that ratchets out like the other trucks (I'm not that familiar with the FMTVs) I have to point out that this is not really a safe option, and is illegal in Texas. Cheers

Is This One of Us? This Is Incredible to See

When I was helping in La Grange recently, this is what kept running through my mind in the water. Along with all the other garbage. I was told that one of the nearby roads had a hole with an unoccupied Mustang in it when the waters went down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Beqwuq7Yr9w Cheers

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

She's a good gal! For the events you want to come to, I'm willing to come get you and/or the truck in advance. Being 35 miles from town, I know the farm doesn't resolve the distance issue for you, but for events like Temple, Muster Day, etc., where we have time to make multiple runs to...

Sorry to hear that. Is there any way to rig a proper hand throttle? Cheers

    I Bought My First CUCV; a 1984 M1009

There is an active group of MV guys in San Antonio, who do a lot of events. Send mkcoen a message, he is active in that group. We also have a lively group based in Austin, Lone Star MVPA if you'd like to come play. There is a lot of mutual support between the groups...

Source found for Commando chevron tires

I'm doing the same thing. I put the Commandos in storage, to be brought out if I ever do an MVPA convention or similar event with it, and am running regular 14.00s. While the original tires were "new" when I got them, as in zero miles, I don't want to risk running tires that old on the V...
