Grrr...I hate not being able to edit my own post. :x
In the above, keep in mind that the M109 on 395s has an empty box. The other M109 and the M185 are set up as campers with bunkbeds and a bunch of other stuff in the back.
Cheers
I have an M185A3, an M109A3, an M35A2, and am long-term babysitting an M109A3 on 395s. My opinions are based on those trucks.
First, take into account that the M109/M185 weigh roughly 4000# more than an M35, and have even more barn-door-like aerodynamics. M109 and M185 are essentially the...
That's the one you brought to help us with Mkcoen's goat recovery, yes? Nice truck.
Always sad to see one of your babies go, even when you know it's to a good home.

My understanding on those was that they often failed to burn out when the designated amperage was exceeded, so something further down the electrical line had to instead. That kinda negates the purpose of a fuse!

From years of bureaucratic experience, my reading of the wording in that document implies that they are quietly encouraging folks to get legislation passed to allow the continued registration of military vehicles.
The not revoking previously issued registration, and actually allowing the...
Actually, it's yours so you can do with it as you please, but it's an awfully nice truck to get bobbed. ;)
The 395s are a good choice for the 5-tons, though you can go bigger if you really want to. You'll want to go to the wider super single rims, the wheels you have are not safe for 395s...
If you go with making an adapter, here is a thread that might help. There are several others, too. This covers wiring only, not voltage converter.

I have one of those too. I need to put my illustrious manufacturing skills () to work making a top plate for it
The odd shaped hole in the bottom of mine looks like it had been trimmed up with a dremel tool, probably after getting smacked with a hammer or some such to demil it.
My...
Haven't been able to find an M number (it may never have had one). I've seen M1 and M4 attributed to it, but no evidence to confirm either.
Corbitt and White 6-ton trucks are reported to be the intended towing vehicles.

I picked this gantry up from Ft Hood surplus recently. It is adjustable in height up to 12'. I plan to lay some steel channel as tracks for it, so it can be moved a bit as needed. I still want something with a crane, or one of those cool telelifter-type machines.
Cheers
PS - I know we...
No worries! If my experience was different than what others have encountered, that information needs to get out there.
I was lucky in all three M1082 recoveries I made, because there were no issues. In fact I recall commenting about the one I picked up for agazza that the only thing that...
I shall amend my own quote to "Ft Hood caged the brakes on all of the M1082s I have seen personally, and I watched them moving the trailers around the yard by the pintle with a big rough terrain forklift". ;)
I agree that they are very helpful there. The last M1082 I picked up didn't have a...
