Didn't know there was such a thing? Neither did I!
The M116A3 based HSTRU trailer always towed nose low, and that bothered me. I was looking for a way to adjust the lunette when I found the piece in pic 1 in the junkyard.
I figured I could use part of it to fab up something...
I neglected to mention - on two lane roads, if you are stacking up traffic behind you, and can safely pull over onto the shoulder, do that periodically. It doesn't cost you much in the way of time and let's those folk in too big a rush to enjoy following an MV have a chance to safely get by...
I run amber blinky lights on all the MVs while on the road (check your own state for legality, it's legal here).
I like period correct rotating lights where possible, so I don't have any LED lights, thus no comments on them.
Some make some noise, but it doesn't bother me.
Some of my trucks...
I included a cropped version of the camouflaged Humvee so hopefully the markings can be better seen than in the version attached above.
You will often find embarkation codes painted on Marine vehicles. This will be on the right front somewhere. On Humvees, it is painted on the right front...
Yep, 1966 is correct! :) Belongs to an uncle. It's the one in the picture.
I remember seeing them as a kid in the late 60s. I think it would look splendid in deep bronze green with Irish division plates. Don't know where to find those, though. :/
USMC markings (modern) -
Identification...
I have pictures of USMC Humvees from my son's motor pool that I can share with you. USMC vehicles tend to be rather anonymous, with little to indicate unit.
I was born in Dublin, grew up in Co. Dublin/Wicklow into my teens, when the family moved to the US. I'm in the early negotiations on a...
SECM = Shop Equipment Contact Maintenance. They are roving repair shops, carry tools, generator, welding gear, etc. This is one of the vehicles that replaced the M1031 CUCV.
Cheers
Very nice truck. I can imagine many a bóithrín where that will be a handful!
Interesting mix of USMC and Army style markings, are any original? Is the USMC license plate original?
Cheers
Jeff, if you are going to be rude, I'll have to step in with my 2cents.
Barrman is NOT speculating, he is stating facts. He did not say you would die, he said you will get a headache. This is from carbon monoxide poisoning from the exhaust fumes.
I have driven Blazers and similar vehicles...
Cool vehicles.
Since those just show up as links, I've attached your pictures (albeit slightly reduced size, since the site squinches them down)
Cheers
A couple from Independence Day, including my daughter driving the Mule; one on Texas Independence Day with the V100 crewed by all three of my kids, with me following in an M931.
Cheers
They did! Your picture is actually a P-63 Kingcobra. It is basically the P-39 developed to it's full potential as quite good fighter. But by that time, the US wanted to limit the number of fighter types it was using, so the majority of P-63 production went to the Russkies, who used it to good...
The Me-262 originally came in both single and two-seat versions. The two-seater was designed as a night-fighter.
During WWII, many P-51s (and other planes) had a second seat added by squadron maintenance shops on war weary machines to use as squadron hacks (for flying about doing business...
