That’s weird that the Odyssey’s are more expensive than the Hawkers. I think when you order from them you get a big discount. You can buy Odysseys from them also.
I got the Hawker batteries from the manufacturer for 972 shipped and I don’t think that’s much more than the Odyssey’s. They don’t make them until you order them.
I got caught up in the auction process on Tuesday. Different auction but same results. I thought I could have got it for less. That one guy in Oregon cost me a few thousand dollars.
You could back it with copper and try 1/2 dozen more beers. Some holes you won’t be able to get backing on but the majority of them you probably can. Copper will soak up the heat and weld won’t stick to it.
I remember you saying that when I was replacing my gasket. I found a gasket from one of the big 3. I don’t like the rtv personally but no doubt it will work just fine
Funny thing, I ordered cdr bolts from Mac and when I got them I looked at them and said they are too short and will never work. I was amazed that I was able to install it with the bolts they sent me.
Well it makes me think that you would have more clamping force and a bolt that doesn’t stretch and you can reuse it. Hopefully I never have to do it but I would put studs whether I need them or not. I never like a 1 time use bolt.
I don’t really know, other than maybe the exhaust ports. That’s a lot of work pulling stuff off. I think if you put a 1,000 miles on it and see where you are at. They said my truck had visible blow by and I changed the oil and drove it. I never seen any blow by but I think my truck had 187 miles...
Do you think you could get headstuds on it like it sits? I’m not suggesting that you or anyone else needs them but just for my own curiosity. I seen a guy put a zip tie on the rear studs and slide them into head and set the head and then thread the studs in. I hope I don’t ever have to do what...
If you are going to slather it please don’t post pictures or say that you’re slathering! Right way and wrong way! I will weld my hole up and leak test it and I will never ever slather it with anything. Maybe remove and clean and put butyl tape or windshield sealer and reinstall
Don’t use Rockwool on anything but a building that you are fireproofing! Worst stuff ever! You look at it and you itch… I would rather not have a top than have it inside my truck
At very least, oil and filter. Fuel filter and top off the other fluids. Depends on how far you are going. Tires usually need replaced and maybe belts and check hoses.
