Due to a few circumstances, I haven't gotten to buying/installing new gauges yet. However, in post #2 is a link to the gauges I will probably go with. SW Deluxe series probably has the most gauges that match the scale our trucks use. If you're not looking for as many gauges or don't care if...
Yep, lots of threads about that. That's something I'm gonna do. But I didn't find any threads about shutters so here I am.
I've narrowed the door lock to either the dead bolt I saw someone attached below the door or a container lock I found that I'll put on the door.
This is an example, not...
I think I'd rather go with something more or less opaque. I suppose, if you can't see it you might want to get in to see what's worth covering up, but then if they see there are easy to rip off items then they might be more tempting to try and break in - still, I think I'd rather go with the...
I want something that can't be kicked in, or "quickly" smashed. As with all upgrades, there is a sweet spot between weight, cost & convenience. Bullet resistance polycarbonate or acryllic is light but expensive (~$100 sq/ft+). If I can't get the cost down to something in my budget range, I'm...
I am putting electronics in the cab and want to avoid smash & grabs.
1/4" steel plate is ~10lbs per sq/foot. That would make the door shutter around 45 lbs which is waaay more weight than I'm looking for. I sent away for a sample of 1.5" UHMWPE which is 8x lighter than steel. All together...
So, I'm about to put some stuff in my cab that might be attractive to thieves.
Obligatory: I know nothing can be fully secure, I just want to prevent opportunity thieves, drunks, amateurs and/or slow someone down as I also intend on sleeping in the back while traveling. Anyone seriously...
Please find a thread for me (that's wasn't started by me) that tells how long the battery cables should be. You'd think it would be easy "battery cable length", yeah, no. I spent 5 years in university and my specialty is research (history major).
The following is not meant as a rant, though it may seem that way. I really do appreciate all I've learned from this site...
I have spent hours and hours on this site in research. Some of it fruitless and down right frustrating. The search function doesn't work if you don't know the name of...
If you're buying an A3 I think it's probably a coin toss.
If you're interested in an A2, I would be pretty wary of GL. Most A2's left on military bases have been sitting, unused, in a back lot for some time now and unless you're a really good (or have a lot of time) as a mechanic it may not...
Installed my new PTO boot. Wanted something that fit the shape better and found an e-brake boot that did the trick.
This is the one I used: http://www.controlcables.com/emergency-brake-boot-ring-fits-b1000-b101/
The dimensions are 2.75" wide by 6.5" long. I list a couple other bezels in the...
As a follow up, after scouring the web I found 3 good other options for the PTO boot (I just didn't care, aesthetically, for the stock boot).

I don't have another truck to compare to, but for it's size I'm pretty impressed with the brakes. I had someone cut in front of me in rush hour traffic and stop short. I jammed on the brakes ended up skidding on all tires in a nice straight line and that person will never realize how close...
Looking at that thread is not filling me with glee. :|
I've started calling around hoping I might find a shop that has installed this on the deuce, if not I'll stick with my original plan and give a print out of that thread, and the locker (which has an included manual) to my shop.
There are...
While I see your point, according to the ARB site you don't need expertise to install one. I don't want to have to take a day from work and drive a hundred miles and pay a premium shop that may not even have a lift that can handle a deuce.
Motor Trucks mostly work on 18 wheelers, buses...
I'm gonna have a shop do it. I don't really have a good place to lift the truck and leave it lifted for the hours I would need. When I swapped wheels I used the company's shop (they have an air system) but my boss didn't like it.
At least that's the plan. I spoke to a shop today, they needed...
Decided to go with 2 air lockers. After scouring the web I found a price of $975. I just got off the phone with these guys (I thought maybe they were calling about the price), but they explained a few things to me. They're not supposed to advertise less than the agreed upon price by ARB...
Car show today. My truck was the only truck/car you could climb in or otherwise touch. Probably at least 50 kids sat behind the wheel and at least 20+ adults.
There was a bobbed deuce there as well, but I never saw the owner. I stood around in the sun for 7 hours and spoke to anyone that...
The way the deuce rear axles move side-to-side, would this have any effect with the detroit lockers?
I'm thinking of going with 2. I will be looking into some sort of secondary air system once I get through my current list of "must haves"
