What is the VIN number and registration number of the truck? (preferably the VIN off the frame rail). Those will tell you the real built dates.

David
There is a sticky in the deuce forum on paint (which I am in the process of updating to include some older info). Take a look at it, and prefice the info there with this info:
WWII military vehicles were painted 319 flat OD. In 1945 a semigloss was authorized, but the war ended before it was...
Re: odd turn signal guard actually means something
I think it would be more accurate to say SOME not all of the newer trucks....specifically those on contract DAAE-06-68-C-0007.
My 72, built on DAAE06-70-C-0001, with no overhaul, no rebuild and 300 miles on it when I got it had the tall round...
The registration number does stay with the truck in almost every instance (The M35A3 rebuild is a typical example of the number legitimately changing - it requires that drastic of a rebuild - to legitimately change a registration number requires authority far beyond a unit commander.) NOTHING...
RE: odd turn signal guards
I'm on the road and don't have all my references - but, every truck I've seen with these type of guards was made on contract DAAE-06-68-C-0007 between 1968 and 1970. And, conversely every truck I've seen that was built on that contract had this type of guard...
The bed you describe is correct for the early gas M35 - I have one of these myself.
Pretty much everything you describe matches a 1953-54 Studebaker - except the data plate.
The back of the cab is stamped ever so slightly differently on these trucks as compared to the later trucks - since you...
I'm not at home, so I am at a bit of a disadvantage trying to chime in here....but I'd say the truck is a 1953-54 model. You say it has a M211 bed - what exactly do you mean by that? M211 and M35 beds are almost identical (but for spare tire carrier and a few other minor details) - do you mean...
Re: RE: Re: RE: m125
There were two of them - and they both went to collector friends of mine.
Both were missing their beds - but one fellow has already found THE bed for his, not just a bed, but the one Mack had put on it at the factory.

I spent over a year researching WWII German fighting vehicles while preparing my book on this subject, including over 110 days of research through archives, and copying thousands of photos and pages of documents.
I attempted to be as thorough as possible, although later editiorial constraints...
Charlie,
As I suspected, someone swapped the data plates on your truck. You have a 1966 M35A2 built by Kaiser Jeep. It was assigned army registration number 4H3913, and did not have a dropside bed when it left the factory.
When new the truck would have had a LD-465 naturally-aspirated Multifuel...
Greetings Fellows...
After spending years playing with deuces, I've gotten familiar with the meaning of the different VINs.
Since I am now getting some requests for info on CUCV - I need a quick education.
What characters in the vins distinguish the different models (1008, 1009, 1028, 1031...
It is being resolved through legislative action. This process, while effective, is not speedy, and is better done right and once than sorta right, and over and over again.

Matt,
Nice looking truck. I'd be suprised if you get mileage as high as you mention above - something to consider when you set your rates. Also, beware they get stuck easy - don't ask how I know!
Local guy used one recovering lots of agricultural equipment, made good money with it - until he...
