What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

*NSFW* mild language https://youtu.be/SGrdXGzJZc4?t=45s You'll see how gently they drive, and how low their center of gravity is... They have 1000 gallon tanks and 100 gallon foam tanks. Those alarms you hear are the tilt alarms, advising the apparatus operator that the vehicle operation...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Water is 8.34 pounds. 8.34 * 750 gallons (Just a ballpark)= 6255 lbs... Not bad, right? Wellllll Water is dynamic, not static... Any turn, change in velocity/momentum, angle of attack (hill), etc will cause a lot of force to go in some direction. 3 tons doesn't sound like much. but wait...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Got shafted. Long story short.... Went to get brake fluid flushed 3 yrs ago.... Les Schwab promised they'd use DOT5... Had to take it back 4 times for squishy pedal. FFWD (rewind?) to last month, I replaced a caliper that I realized had seized and in bleeding noticed dissimilar fluids...

What's your best 'that was dumb' moment involving your 5 ton?

I let my batteries sit for too long, drained them, didn't bother checking them and just hooked up the indentured servant cable from my CUCV to my M934... Bad idea....all 4 were completely shot.... Well, one of my alternators was on its last leg, so it gave up the ghost.... but I didn't find out...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Technically it is supposed to be illuminated, but an argument could be made that it was manufactured without them...... PA is HORRIBLE on equipment violations.....Heard way too many horror stories about tickets from PSP about the stupidest stuff, like 'unsecured load' ticket for having a cooler...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I used L brackets underneath my truck to attach my plate, but I had an M1009, M1010, and M1031, a little diff than an M1008. I would also look into the legality of running vanity or 'period correct' plates, I'm lucky enough that my state law is worded as such that I can run a green USA (Armed...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

It's to get you down the road, or out of the mountains/desert/whathaveyou...Not a permanent fix. I carry spare hoses/belts in my M1031, but it doesn't hurt to have..

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

They make emergency wrap, holds to 400 PSI or some such nonsense. You wrap it around and squeeze and it turns into a rock hard sealant. I always keep a couple rolls handy...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Let us know how it works. I've heard anything more than a couple PSI and kaboom...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I think that's the first CUCV cluster I've seen actually fully lit... Hahahaa

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Of course, but that's usually the exception rather than the rule.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Thermostats are designed to fail open. Taking forever to get to temp or running cold is better than overheating.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Drove 170 miles for an annual campout and parade. Put 11 gallons in. That gives me 15.5 MPG on an M1031 on mostly highway miles, 55-60 MPH. I'm OK with that... heh.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Look into an Aussie fridge. Chest freezer with different thermostat. Inexpensive and very efficient.

    Military "CB" Radio

The Icom IC7200 will do what you want, but technically illegal.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

States have their own height/Width/Length/Weight restrictions too, so keep that in mind.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Nope. Saw 'frame extension' and thought you meant truck. and 30' truck+tongue+40' connex? Not a good idea. you'd exceed the 75' maximum allowed on interstates,

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Your truck, your choice. I've seen pink camo on one. You choose what to do with your truck, we choose whether or not to laugh. :D
