If you didn't already know, it is very important to open and close all valves VERY SLOWLY!!!
Water Hammer is the enemy - it can destroy pumps, hose, nozzles, valves, and appliances. It can also cause you to lose prime if a valve is opened too quickly.
Make sure all valves operate smoothly...
Hey Keith (amanco),
I bet we have crossed paths once or twice. I grew up in Eastern Ohio also. (Bellaire) I still have family back in Bellaire, Martins Ferry, and St C. Where is your hometown in "the Valley"? I also spent several years near Delaware. I lived in Galena (near Alum Creek...
Hey JimK, no need to get snotty or disrespectful, we're all friends here
Your point is well taken about "what works for you". It's hard to refute personal empirical experience. Just keep in mind that the article was written by an organization that deals with equipment intended for use...
Here's some more food for thought:

Ok guys, I am trying to pencil in some more of the details so everyone can start making plans. Let's plan on making it a two day trip. If anyone wants, or has to do a one day, you can just meet us at the starting point for the second day and go from there. The other convoy routes (serials)...
Hey Lance,
I am working on a schedule with stops along the way right now. I will have something sketched in later tonight.
I think we should definitely make a two day trip each way.
All of the other convoy elements will assemble a few miles outside of the rally site, then everyone will...
Mark,
There is a chance that a part or two might interchange, but I would assume a whole different kit is needed.
Here's another - (slightly different view)
Rich,
There are three of us on route #1 right now. Lance (hookin1), will come up from Evansville, IN and meet Chris (Gimpyrobb) and myself in Cincinnati. Then the three of us will head north to I-70. If you wanted to join up with us in Dayton, OH or Columbus, OH that would work well.

OH, IN, IL, KY, MI, WI, MN, (and beyond) going to Aberdeen????
Cabell Garbee (the coordinator for the East Coast Convoy) has invited us to add a Western serial to destination: ABERDEEN.
I have humbly volunteered to organize this western group, but I need your help. Incidentally, if anyone...
Ok, didn't want to be presumptuous, . . . but if the ECC is accepting applications for new serials, I would like to humbly apply. I would definitely need some guidance and other member participation, but I would be very interested in working on the task.
Westy, jfn, and others:
Any one traveling through Ohio on I-70 ?
Gimpyrobb and I, (and maybe Todd Haley) will be heading that route to Aberdeen from Cincinnati. Not sure which (if any) of our MVs are going yet. Lots of work to do before any of my junk will make it . . . , but at least...
Geeeez Josh, if you want us to help you spend some money .. . .
Here is a list of vendors we started awhile back:

Thanks for the heads up, Chuck.

Well put Gary. I wholeheartedly agree. (now you got me all fired-up and I have to do some flag waving)
Guys, I don't want to start a flame war here, but just think about this the next time you walk into that %@#&$#@ Harbor Freight store. That socket set you are eyeballin' could be what is...
