Correct, the valve goes in the supply side. Additionally, you will need a method to bleed residual pressure from the other side of the valve. I used a brass ball valve with a Vented Exhaust from Fastenal.

Those pictures of the I-470 bridge over the Ohio River bring back memories. I grew up about 5 miles south of that bridge in a little village named Bellaire, Ohio.
Have you considered adding a valve to enable you to "disengage" the front drive?
It is a fairly simple and inexpensive modification. I have made the change to my M51, and it seems to work well. ( However, I'm not sure if there are any long-term ill-effects. If anyone knows of any, please...

Not sure about the fourth line? There is a "springy-top" vent on top of the valve on the transmission. It's the same type of vent that you have on the axles.

I'm not doubting you, but are you sure about the first two pictures that I posted above? What do you see that isn't right?
I know my third picture is a five-ton. (it is on my 5-ton right now :) )
Not sure, but your pics are definitely different. Here's what I believe is the correct one shown in the first two pictures. Anyone agree?
(also, be careful - the 5ton unit is very similar, except it mounts to the opposite side of the transmission. see last picture) Deuce is on drivers...
Here are a couple of "file" photos.
The first pic also includes part of the frame and the bumper bracket that were cut with the "blue wrench".
