Well guys, pulling an old thread back to the top,the owner of the cabin we moved came by this past weekend and presented me with a video on DVD of the move!
It had a lot of shots of the M813A1 and M62A1 that I did not get, unfortunately,I don't think I can post it up on youtube to down load it...
Looks like you're coming along on the Goat nicely Mark,I do have a question,do your seat frames have a fiberglass seat pan under the canvas cushions or is it just the frame itself?
I managed to clean the load of scrap out of the goat this afternoon after church,
1 punctured OTR truck fuel tank,1 was undamaged and salvageable, both with straps and mounts, straps and mounts as well as the punctured tank went in the scrap bin.
2 bolt on bed bows for a M548 tracked cargo...
Ok,ya'll have me sufficiently scared enough that I am gonna drain and inspect the front steering box on this Goat tomorrow afternoon, either way,it's gonna get fresh 90wt to keep it steering as it should.
I did get a chance to check everything out this evening(filters, fluids, driveline) and I...
I haven't detected any issues yet(just got it running today),It does seem to steer easier than the Morganton 561.
The engine was frozen(rust on the rings) as well as the clutch stuck to the flywheel on this Goat, some fogged in penetrating oil in the blower, and a little easing it back and forth...
Well,2 Goats recovered,no problems that I am aware of,
The day for me started at 0900,with me arriving at the Forestry Service yard with the M62A1,Mark,Andy and Joel(?) had arrived a few minutes prior.
After introductions,we set out airing up tires and inspecting the Morganton Goat, after 20...
Understood, the M62A1 is prepped and awaiting tomorrow as well as the Dodge and gooseneck,I'll be at the Forestry Service yard around 0845/0900.
I already have a plan in mind for loading the other goat on the gooseneck.
Everything is a GO on this end,I'll see ya'll at the Forest Service yard Wednesday morning with the M62A1,unless something major happens between now and then.
I didn't actually win any of them,I previewed the one in Morganton(it's 5 minutes away),I remembered seeing the one in Crossnore some years back,no parts vehicles around here that I know of.
My vote is for the Proud American, for all the reasons already mentioned, and the fact it once resided here at A1 central.

Welcome to the site, lots of info here,I'm just up the road from you in Morganton.

I swapped the standard cargo bed on my M54A1 for a dropside bed with cargo tie downs.
I also did a H4 headlamp upgrade on the M62A1 wrecker and M51A1 dump
I use 3M EAR Taper fit 2 just about all the time(cutting grass, driving MVs, operating heavy equipment, etc) and they seem to work excellently,I usually keep several pairs in all the trucks so I won't forget to use em...
