My new to me Gama Goat

Yes,in NC any out of state,Antique,or first applied for (SF 97) title must have the VIN or serial # verified before a NC title will be issued in the current owners name. Everything I have purchased that came with a SF 97(M52A2,M813A1,M211,Gama Goat) has required a inspector to verify the...

My new to me Gama Goat

Nothing much to report today,NC license and theft bureau officer came by to verify the serial # for the title,I did remove the FOPS the Forest service installed. It made getting in the cab much easier,I did indentify the brake light switch is toast, it's a standard M series switch,so it should...

Gama Goat wheel bearing adjustment procedure?

Thanks guys, that's pretty much what I did, torque to 170 ft/lbs while rotating wheel, then I backed off the nut a total of 2 tabs,I didn't notice any play and they rotated easily. 3 out of the 6 wheels were VERY loose,as in I could shake the wheel almost 1/2 inch,so I defineitly was correct in...

New Member: I'm loving my 5 ton but Brake failure!

Welcome to the site Brad, As others have said, definetly keep on top of the brake system,5 tons need all they can to get stopped. I checked out your album w/ pictures of the truck,I'm not sure if you bought it off craigslist or not,but that truck does not have a LDS 465-1A Multifuel, It has...

My new to me Gama Goat

Thanks dmetalmiki, In the pictures of the Goat, you can just make out my M62A1 wrecker,M51A1 dump,M54A1 cargo,M35A2C Deuce, both of the M103 genset trailers and the M151A1 sitting behind the Goat in the garage. What can I say,I like the M39 series trucks, especially if they have a 673 Mack under...

My new to me Gama Goat

I dunno,I would say the yellow one definetly had the better body, plus had all 4 seat cushions and a tailgate, plus it started and drove up on the trailer. The tires were a toss up,the yellow one had more tread, but also more weather cracking. The bracket on the dash is the defroster for the...

Gama Goat wheel bearing adjustment procedure?

Bump for the day crowd,I found the preload specs in a PS magazine article(150 to 170 ft/lbs) but that is all I found.

Gama Goat wheel bearing adjustment procedure?

Ok,maybe I am missing it,but do the TM's downloaded on SS contain the proper procedure for adjusting the wheel bearings on a Gama Goat after repacking them? I am going through the brakes and figured I might as well clean and repack the bearings while I am down this far. Maybe my eyes are...

Goat 3-53 fuel filter part # needed

Bumping an old thread, thanks for posting the fuel filter numbers,I changed both in the 561 this evening, perfect fit! The primary "sock" filter was a solid mass of rust and algae!

    Gama Goat Crankcase capacity

Bumping an old thread,I changed the oil in the Goat this week, and it took 12 quarts to bring it back to full with filter change. The data plate in this Goat was also stamped 9 quarts, evidently that is without changing the filter? BTW,I used NAPA Gold 1138 for the filter, worked great!

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Ditto on what AZDeuce said, Plus the fluid will be flushed every 2 years or so with these 3 trucks(as well as my own,I run DOT3 in all my MVs),so I'm not really worried about it. Since I converted my M35A2C over to DOT3 in 1999,I have had no issues whatsoever with the brake system, and it...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Yeah, the travel time from North Carolina to Utah would be huge. I have often considered buying a 5 ton gull wing shop(M39 series with a Mack of course) and starting my own mobile MV servicing business, but I fear the market just isn't there.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Yep,took me a total of 38 hrs to complete. It's not too bad on a Deuce or 5 ton,but do all that to a M123 tractor, that takes a while!
