As a Marine, I want to say thank you for preserving this portion of our heritage.
As a motorcycle owner and Marine, this is my 1984 FXST with the paint job my pop put on it in 1994 and it repainted in my beloved Corps colors.
I also took the opportunity presented while the tins were...
Took it camping this weekend to test it... the boys slept in it with the door open and a mosquito net over it (I was worried about the suffocation hazard).
Needless to say it went great, and full steam ahead on the build!
I ran into a Marine buddy of mine at the last car show I went to and he told me he had a fuel can for me... I picked it up and it was rusted pretty badly.
My kid Jak asked if he could do the resto on it and I gladly said yes. I'm all about helping stoke his passion for the hobby...
So...
So...
I was wondering what to do with the M105 I had gotten when I bought the 5 ton.... It sat in my back yard being neglected for about 7 months and I decided to turn it into a mini-camper....
I had started looking for stakes, bows and a cargo cover when I saw this on Eastern Surplus'...
Coincidentally, I had to do this to my 5 ton Friday. I shut down, went shopping and came back an hour later to drained batteries. (I think I left my lights on... 🤦♂️)
After researching, I found it IS possible to jump 24v off of 12v. The way I did it was connect the negative side battery...
All- I've linked Wes' video in this, but I know sometimes we don't have time to watch a video or we have limited connection, so after rebuilding my PCB today, I decided to put it in thread form:
This is assuming you've diagnosed the problem is your PCB. My symptoms were: No power to the dash...
OK, following power flow, I'm not getting 24vdc to the PCB.
I had at one point disconnected my battery switch and in the course of doing that, have mixed up my wires. Using continuity checks with my meter, I cannot find the wire that goes to the pcb and am searching tms. Anyone have the numbers...
All- just rebuilt my PCB according to Wes' video, reinstalled and I have the same symptoms. No voltage to dash or starter system.
Batteries are charged.
Where do I start troubleshooting now?
If anyone knows and wants to call, my number is 3183329703.
Thanks in advance
So... not to inadvertently campaign for the competition, but had a chance to meet @fuzzytoaster today, and gotta say... good dude, very knowledgeable and that Super Het is a BEAST!
**VOTE FOR BERTHA**!!
Time to see how well @m715mike and @Tracer campaign for the girl... will they convince me to vote for Bertha?????
Time will tell!!!
Good luck to everyone!
I know apples and oranges, but my 1990 M923A2 is insured by State Farm as a classic also. (With towing!)
I'm also in Louisiana. Where in Louisiana are you located? I can send you my agents name.
