"bucket" radiator tank
We didn't have to open mine, since the core was fine the couple of leaky tubes soldered up nicely once it was cleaned up. So I have never seen the interior of an actual deuce tank. Found the name, the construction is called a "bucket tank", and was also used in a lot of...
Note that it isn't anything like a standard modern core ! I can't remember the term, but my radiator guy called it the same thing as several other people here have posted. Basically the top tank (which actually is sort of two tanks internally), is manufactured as part of the core. To use a...
From the 1983 version of LO-2320-273-12, M915 series Lubrication Order:
22 qts of 10wt engine oil for above 32F (also -10 to 40, but arctic engine oil for below 0)
Note that there has been a lot of discussion on other threads about other auto transmission used by the military, the military...
Nice Pictures !
This one was flying most days last week out of Ellington Field (EFD) -
McDonnell F-4D Phantom II - The Collings Foundation
Saw it several times on the way to/from lunch. Thought it might be one of NASA's, but the colors didn't match and those are based at (I think) Dryden in...
Thanks Speddmon,
A local member also pointed that out to me, and invited me up to look at his -003a with an ASK. I had looked through the -24P, but hadn't gone through the -34 carefully yet. I will get the generators running before this hurricane season !
Just a pickup (generic Texas truck plates, if you look around a lot of the smaller box trucks and flatbeds have the same plates), that class is good to 26,000lbs GCVW. It is by weight. I'm not sure what the total was, but it wasn't unreasonable (I want to say ~$250 for 2 years ?). Ask any one...
On the other hand it's no problem to register a Deuce as a regular pickup type truck in Texas. Since I did not want to skirt the restrictions on use, that is how mine is registered.
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/conversations/9593-texas-former-military-vehicle-registration.html
is Barrman's thread.
But from the TX state site the FMV registration is for a vehicle
"restored and maintained to accurately represent its military design and markings."
It might be a stretch to fit a...
If you are asking because you need the info to put on the SF97 request form, or to register it with your state, you will probably save yourself some hassle if you use "Jeep" as at least part of the manufacture's name. At least here in Texas, that is what the registration computers want. aua
If possible, I would like to request some pictures of the ASK components as they are removed. I haven't found a parts breakdown that includes the ASK in the TMs (or maybe there is a separate TM for the ASK that I've never found ?). I have found some suppliers for the components you would need...
4000 series motor
hydraulics.eaton.com/products/pdfs/C-MOLO-TP015-E.pdf
Only found one supplier with that particular number, (but no specs) it is probably an old one, or made for a specific application. If you find a motor with similar physical dimensions in the same series, it will probably...
I've got 11.00x20 Goodyear G177's on stock rims. The spare fits fine, tight, but fine. They are substantially heavier then the stock NDTs, making it that much more exciting when the little spare tire winch pawl flips over and the tire winch tries to kill you with the breaker bar handle you are...
That part number is definitely a 37 deg (or JIC). I don't know if the actual part matches the number. But, 45 deg is generally used in CGA (compressed gasses) applications, not liquids. We have both at work, and it is a pain since they both use the same thread sizes. If you use the wrong...
That part number is a Parker fitting-
Parker - 6 VTX-B
3/8 triple-lok flare tube fitting (37 deg, JIC), 1/4 NPTF pipe, brass
But I can only find 6VTXB's in the more current catalogs, I think the extra "B" is one with a nut and backup ring for the tube.
Any 37 deg flare (or JIC) type from a...
Gunboy1656,
My dad retired this year, and has been getting back into the trains. He likes to model the transition years - late steam, early diesel; so a model of my truck wouldn't be totally out of place (at least the frame and cab are ~1951). We've both looked casually for an HO model over...
So I guess this is just a new run, we both looked last Christmas, and couldn't find any (not even on epay). We found older ones (211 ? 135 ? don't remember now), but no M35A2s.
