    400a to 200a conversion

Are you trying to say that the rear brace won't physically move the 3/8" or so at the top where the generator mounts in order to be positioned behind the mounting tab on the generator? Have you verified that there is nothing physically interfering with the brace as it angles down to the bolt...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

it was pretty easy to be honest. Not a lot of room to swing a hammer, but managed to knock it apart with just a small ball pein hammer with around a dozen hits. The two tie rod ends I replaced at the same time also only took a few decent hits to get them to release also. When I did the pitman...

Battery cutoff using Nato slave plug

anything is physically possible, but that opens up the risk of someone plugging in a slave cable to another vehicle and causing bad things to happen.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

yeah, a little more than I expected. Without side by side pics, you don't realize just how much bigger the Moog version is.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Just replaced my idler arm today with the Moog version. I took a couple of pics of the moog vs A2 version side by side for comparison's sake. The moog version uses 12mm bolts instead of 7/16, so I did have to run a drill bit through one of the frame mounting holes in order for the bolt to...

Spacers between engine/trans cooler and radiator

This topic comes up on a regular basis. People asking how to make their truck run cooler. It's not designed to run at a cooler temp. If everything is working how it's supposed to, then the engine is operating at the correct and most efficient temperature. Trying to make it run outside of that...

Spacers between engine/trans cooler and radiator

I was thinking that too, but the heat/defrost was similar enough that maybe they were designed together with the cooling stack.

Spacers between engine/trans cooler and radiator

Are they the ones that also designed the heater and defrost systems?

    Two silly oil change questions...

For comparison's sake, I work on home standby generators. This area is kind of damp a lot of the year, and even worse if you live near a body of water. A typical standby generator run for about 12 minutes once per week (some are set to every other week, and some once a month) It's very common...

    Question on Govplanet observations

I thought he meant the filler panels to make the bed flat/cover the seat wells in the rear.

    Two silly oil change questions...

ATF has more detergents than motor oil does, but modern motor oils are MUCH better than when the practice of adding ATF before an oil change was popular. It's a diesel engine; the oil will be black no matter what you try, so just do an oil change and stop stressing about it.

    Question on Govplanet observations

Some auction yards allow you to walk in and look at every piece of equipment. The local one is at the back of a Richie Brother's yard, and you don't even have to sign in. You tell them "govplanet" and they wave you right through. Then you get to the govplanet section and wait for the guy...

Spacers between engine/trans cooler and radiator

The more space between them, the more it allows air to move through in areas that have larger spacing. The closer they are together, the more evenly it will pull air through all the layers, rather than just the path of least resistance. This would lead to more uneven cooling, and if there is...

    400a to 200a conversion

Reading your description and looking at your image again, you are saying that you don't think the 400 amp bracket will work because it's supposed to mount at the same location as the rear tab of the 200 amp gen? Is there not enough space for the bracket to shift back to the outside of the new...

    400a to 200a conversion

I'm not familiar with the conversion process, but I can tell you that the 200 amp rear bracket part number you list is the older style that goes to a stud on the exhaust. I had terrible luck with mine (sheared the exhaust stud several times) and recommend if you do have to replace that bracket...

    24 Volt battery maintainer?

One other plus side for having the charger in the unit, is if the alternator fails, you can just plug the charger to the convenience outlet and that is more than enough to keep the batteries charged up while running. Civilian standby generators these days mostly use 120V chargers that go off...

    24 Volt battery maintainer?

I'm using the Noco gen 5x2 on my HMMWV no problems. I have several of their chargers and jump boxes, and so far haven't had any real issues with them adter several years of use.

Tandem trailer using M105 axles build

walking beam axle purpose is to evenly distribute the load between the two sets of tires. On uneven terrain, the 2 axles pivot on a center point, so they will always have the same amount of ground pressure. It also means that as you go over obstacles/bumps, the vehicle only lifts up the...
